Their "love" is confronted through a series of relationship tests challenging each couple to deal with issues such as trust, communication, and understanding each other while the pursuit of the cultivated money prize. A prize that began at two hundred and fifty thousand dollars, which steadily increases as the couples show how much they know each other. For example, the wives were given ten changes, and for every change, the husband noticed, a thousand dollars was added to the pot of money. By the end of each episode, one couple is voted off with the mandated tearful goodbye and the original seven couples continually dwindle until one will obtain a nest egg to kick-start their lives.

For an hour-long reality show, there were a total of seven commercials that lasted a total of sixteen minutes and twenty-seven seconds. The first commercial was from Sprint advertising their new Palm Centro, for two minutes and ten seconds, where an older gentleman discussed how life went too fast and there was no time for communication, while couples were shown in the background using the phone, smiling faces on all. Next was an advertisement from Epsilon discussing their groundbreaking printer, which is presented by a young couple who had just gone to an electronics store in search of a printer given theirs was not producing quality photographs while they were scrapbooking.

After some on-air bickering and after another two minutes and thirteen seconds, the man declared he didn't scrapbook and the wife was happy with their new purchase to continue, "their project." Then there is a commercial from Citi Bank, a simple thought-provoking commercial directed towards the individuals who want to achieve a dream and do not necessarily have the means to accomplish that, such as a young couple wanting to buy a home. But Citi bank is willing to help them do that, in two minutes and thirty seconds.

Next, there is a commercial from Pfizer that discusses individuals who want to quit smoking, and as difficult as it might be, there are options to help those individuals so they can a better life, a better life introduced in two minutes and fifteen seconds. Afterward find a Nestle Coffee-Mate commercial that shows a married couple with children, enjoying a sip of their coffee together after their children have left for school, enjoying their time together before their days begins as a result of the Coffee-Mate, a commercial that even offers a free sample in two minutes and twelve seconds.

Then for two minutes and forty seconds a Charles Swab commercial discussing investments and the importance of personal communication, especially with someone controlling your money, no matter how much money that is, everyone is entitled to personal attention. Finally in three minutes in forty seconds is a commercial from ReMax, where a family of four is in desperate need of a new home, a new beginning, and ReMax can help them do that as outstanding agents with outstanding results with large access to real estate.

It is obvious that each commercial is directed towards an audience of couples who are most likely to watch this show by appealing to their concerns and needs. Whether that be investing money, obtaining real estate, helping a partner to quit smoking, or obtaining a mortgage from the bank. Or it can be simple concerns that advertisers are appealing to, such as easier communication, easier completion of joint projects, or just enjoying a cup of coffee at home together. The networks are capitalizing off of a person's fears, a couple's concern for their future and their lives together all while the couple may be watching television together.
