This was one of several experiences, whereby I discerned the beauty and grace of the human spirit. Furthermore, my interest in the arts drew me inexorably towards charitable and social improvement activities. I discovered an enormous opportunity to substantially expand my personal and professional goals and perspectives, after coming to the US. I initially resided in New York City, and I supported myself by working in a fast food restaurant. As a result, several of my goals remained unfulfilled.
It did not take long for me to appreciate that the best option for furthering my personal and professional growth was to obtain a college education. I could not enroll in a college, due to paucity of funds. After several months of introspection and analysis, it dawned upon me that it would be of great benefit to join the armed forces. Thus, I enlisted in the United States Army. In the Army, I swiftly discerned that my knowledge of the world and its mores was severely limited. I met individuals from widely varying backgrounds and with a broad spectrum of experiences, and this served to promote my personal development.
Thereafter, I had an opportunity to visit several places in the US, whilst simultaneously acquiring the wherewithal to transform myself into an exemplary soldier. During my posting at Fort Campbell, I endeavored to obtain a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. After injuring my back in an accident, I was compelled to obtain a medical discharge from the Army. At that juncture, I was very keen to obtain a high quality education. I have experience of working in foreign climes. On occasion, these forays have been fraught with considerable danger.
For instance, I have done volunteer work in the United Nations Assistant Mission in Afghanistan in 2013. In addition, I am an active member of the John Jay College Veterans Association. Moreover, I have worked in Dubai and India. I am proficient in English and
