The key elements in the entire research and writing process are coming up with a research question that is interesting and defendable, formulating a hypothesis with measurable goals regarding the research question, researching a scholarly article to support one’s research question and hypothesis, the type of research best suited to the research question, and then coming up with a clear and concise outline to show how the research paper would be organized, and the problem addressed.

These elements have to be systematic as outlined by Garbato. 1 It was much easier to formulate a research question to base the research on and formulate the final research outline. However, the middle steps in formulating a hypothesis about the research question, deciding on the best way to present the findings, and the use of scholarly sources to authenticate the argument were a bit problematic. For example, in formulating the hypothesis, measurable goals were required in portraying the effectiveness of the research approach as measured against the research question.

It was a bit problematic to formulate a hypothesis that could be measured considering my research question, which implied having both dependent and independent variables well illustrated in the formulated hypothesis.
