This means that the hospital administration relies on the payments made by patients for medical procedures and therapy as a source of income for paying hospital staff, medical equipment, and medicines. It is arguable that hospital administration may focus more on the resource that the hospital acquires from the offered medical services as compared to monitoring the quality and safety of health care. The decisions that patients make on health care procedures and treatments are motivated by the will to live and sustain life. The need to safeguard life should therefore be preserved in all health care procedures and treatments even in cases where patients have lost the ability to make informed decisions.
