"Improvements in Quality and Patient Satisfaction" is a wonderful example of a paper on the health system. Treatment and getting a patient well in a health care environment is no longer a sufficient basis in measuring the efficacy of a health care organization.  Advances in medical technology and the growing sophistication of customers in addition to competition compel health care providers to improve the quality of care with the end of satisfying patient’s expectations.

            These two components in health care help health care providers to measure the efficacy of their treatment including the way the treatment and care are administered that will bolster patient satisfaction.  Improvements in quality and patient satisfaction can be objectively determined because they are evidence-based outcomes.  They can be measured quantitatively which would determine the level of the quality of care administered and the corresponding patient satisfaction that comes with quality care.

            The evidence-based outcomes of the improvements in quality and patient satisfaction help health care administrators determine the efficacy of care and identify the weak point in the administration of care.  For example, patient satisfaction tells if the patient recovered from a certain illness and this signals the administrators that their diagnosis and treatment are correct.  Inversely, patient satisfaction will also tell if the quality of treatment was incorrect that patients have to go to another health care provider because diagnosis and/or treatment is wrong.  It could also be that staff lacked the concept of service or discourteous. Or it could also be a case of an ineffective system or process or a myriad of reasons that could render patients dissatisfied.  More importantly, this information provides administrators direct feedback on how they are faring on their mandate to take care of their patients that could affect their decision making and how they manage their organization.
