Bilingual expertise is therefore paramount in community health centers existing in areas likely to have people from different racial and ethical backgrounds (Medical Group Management Association 11). Urban centers are examples of such societies since they comprise people possessing various lingual abilities. The effectiveness of the diagnosis and treatment of diseases relies on the ability of the doctor and the patient to communicate effectively. The situation becomes severe in psychological services that rely entirely on the effectiveness of communication between the patient and the doctors (Aday 41).

            I volunteer my services twice a week at the Chinatown Public Health center in the city of San Francisco where I serve as an intern. The experience at the facility is important and helps perfect my interpersonal skills as I interact with both the patients and other members of the department on a daily basis. With the help of my supervisor, Ms. Lei-Chun Fung I adapted to the facility and began dispensing my services. The experience is a continuous learning process as I learn the intricacies of the practice. I have worked in various programs at the facility including the quit-smoking program, cancer support project, CPR & First-aid program, and Basic health education to new immigrants. In all the projects, my bilingual abilities proved fundamental in managing communication.
