Extract of sample "Smoking and Womens Health"

"Smoking and Women’s Health" is a perfect example of a paper on addiction. The article reports on the effects of smoking among women and possible measures for the management and prevention of smoking among women. Core to the author’s message is the position that women and girls should not start smoking because cigarette smoking is a major cause of women’s death in the United State and a major cause of lung cancer that is the most significant cause of cancer deaths. Smoking also has adverse effects on women’s fetuses (WHONN 611).

Prevention and management measures are necessary for controlling smoking among women and prioritizing nurses’ active roles in the identification of smoking problems, treatment, and referrals for specialized care is a viable strategy. Measures to facilitate prevention and cessation, as well as awareness programs and legal policies, can also control smoking among women (WHONN 612, 613).

Analysis

The article is informative to women’s health as it creates awareness of the significance of smoking among women and involved risks. It identifies the development of the problem at women’s younger age and persistence to account for cancer cases, deaths, and pregnancy complications. the article is also significant in its identification of possible solutions that can be implemented to resolve the problem (WHONN 611- 613).

Offered information is valid and reliable as it is consistent with developed data from an independent population segment and by a different author. Data from Ireland supports significant smoking among women, even during pregnancy. Consistency in possible solutions to smoking in both the United States and Ireland further identifies validity of the measures such as active roles of care personnel and government policies (DHSSPS N.p.).

Reflection

I believe, based on consistency in data and recommendations on the problem, smoking among women is a significant social problem and a global one. Proposed measures, which are also consistent in the two regions, should therefore be implemented to prevent smoking and to help women smokers stop the habit that threatens their lives and the lives of their children.
