They have been rising cases of teenage smoking in the last decade. According to the CDC factsheet, smoking and smokeless tobacco are mostly established while most people are in their adolescence. According to this report, 9 out of 10 smokers began doing it before age 18 which makes this assessment 99% accurate. This issue causes concern since if this case of tobacco smoking persists it's most likely that the 5.6 million Americans younger than 18 years will most likely die prematurely from smoking-related illnesses.

Risk Factors

Most of the teenagers and youths using tobacco attribute this to a lot of peer influence mostly from their friends. Some of the youths are believed to be adapting this vice from television while others adopt it from their parents and other family members (Miller, 2012).
