"Risk Management in Emergency Services" is a great example of a paper on the health system. Risk is a chance of occurrence of uncertainty. It is uncertainty that holds the potential to become a disaster, if not controlled at the first level. Risk is a hazard in the early stages but if it is avoided by negligence, it becomes a disaster bringing major social and environmental consequences such as environmental disruption, human life loss, or human life deterioration. Prevention is better than cure is a policy that needs to be applied in the emergency services operation. The emergency services can improve if they show vigilance to respond to the risk factor. They can improve if they identify risk at the first level of control and prevention (Angle, 2004).

Risk Reduction and Control

Dealing with crises is the job of emergency agents but the true job is to educate people and society. By organizing community awareness programs, organizations can create awareness at the societal level. This is essentially important because when society is aware of the prevailing risk, it can have more readiness and preparedness to control and manage risk. Education programs are deliberately important to reduce the tendency of risk in an environment. It is because of community programs; that people are prepared to respond to the risk factor. This is how the chances of crises get prevented as the whole society’s risk is controlled and managed (Angle, 2004).

From the above assessment, it can be said that the severity of risk is significantly related to the frequency of risk. The higher the frequency of risk, the more is the severity, the impact of risk in the environment (Angle, 2004).
