Specialized staffs in diversified professions in which the organizations operate undertake the organizations’ major activities. Established Non-Governmental Organizations recruit individuals with distinguished experience and skills but sometimes recruit fresh graduates from masters or doctorate programs. The other organizations also rely on skilled and experienced personnel in performing their tasks but operations at their headquarters, and in delivery of humanitarian services may utilize employees with less distinguished skills (Skolnik 386- 388).   

Essential types of knowledge and experience to working in global health

Essential types of knowledge and experience for working in global health include sufficient “understanding of political, social, and economic issues” in developing countries and strategies for addressing the issues, cultural awareness, multilingual potential in low and middle-income countries, and experience in the countries’ environments (Skolnik 389). Other skills and experience are technical skills and the ability to “read and write” with clarity to different types of audiences in the target regions (Skolnik 389).

University students’ understanding of life in low- and middle- income countries

University students can obtain a better understanding of life in low and middle-income countries through internships and work studies in those countries, studying in the countries, and working in the countries during their vacations or work studies (Skolnik 389- 391).

Careers in global health that might be open to physicians

Some of the careers in global health that might be open to physicians include clinically based professions, programs, and policy development careers, public health, and clinical medicine (Skolnik 391).
