"Health Resources and Policy Analysis" is a wonderful example of a paper on the health system. The health system provides employment to varied personnel who may not necessarily be nurses or physicians mostly because of improved technological incorporation in the medical fields and due to rising of specialized knowledge or sophisticated skills in the medical line. As a result, many medical officers are attaining specializations in more than one field. For instance, physical therapy assistants may work in other feasible areas such as radiologic technologies or as non-clinic personnel to perform phlebotomy. However, the reduced specialization may end up destroying competence with health personnel. As a result, the government has stepped in with regulatory role on certification being offered to this personnel (Sultan & Young, 185).

One of the fields on medical professionals who are neither nurses nor physicians includes social workers. The main role of social workers is to counsel patients or their families. They assist them on how they can easily address the issues of economy, at personal levels, or social brackets in relation to patient`s illness. Moreover, once the patient is discharged, they arrange community-based services to the patient (Sultan & Young, 205).

On government regulation, it recommends a master`s certificate from a school that is accredited to offer social work education. Consequently, according to Sultan & Young (205), the number of social workers registered by the Council of Social Workers by 2006 in the USA  as holding the bachelor`s program stood at 458, 181 had master`s and only 74 were doctors. However, with the current increase in social worker`s demand especially in the field of drugs/substance abuse and gerontology, the number is expected to increase higher than the average mark.

In considering the social worker`s roles, the ones in hospital or health fields setting, their social work is always visible. For instance, those in public medical care are active in providing the patient's families or patients with highly needed psycho support, especially when acute, terminal or chronic diseases are reported (Payne 45).

On the other hand, social workers in mental centers, rehabilitation stations, and substance abuse control institutions, are the major players in the assessment and treatment of the involved client. In fact, they are largely involved because of the delicacy need in holding this people`s psychology. For instance, those with mental problems or who have abused drugs usually have a negative attitude towards life (Sultan & Young, 205).
