"Factors Leading to Chemical Addiction" is a wonderful example of a paper on addiction. There are various main factors leading to chemical addiction. First, an individual from a family known for drug problems may be more vulnerable. Such individuals may be a parent or siblings. The other factor is mental challenges. Such conditions as depression, stress may make an individual turn to drugs as an alternative to problems. Moreover, there may be reduced family attachment and an individual may turn to drugs for solace. In addition, taking a highly addictive drug such as heroin and cocaine may lead to high chances for addiction. Understanding different aspects that lead to addiction has led to changes in my perception of addicted individuals. The reason is that I have come to realize that some factors may lead to addiction without an individual's own will. The best way to stop addiction is to educate people on the effects of addiction. On-campus, set up one can turn to counselors while at home one may seek close family members for help.

I think the most abused drug is alcohol in the college. On the other hand, a student may be more susceptible to illegal drug use because of various factors. First, the student may be more likely to engage in illegal drugs if one of their friends is already involved in taking such drugs. Secondly, a student performing poorly in school may be likely to be stressed and hence turn to such drugs for solace. The students are more susceptible to chemical addiction because of influence and lack of parental guidance.

Chemical addiction may lead to behavioral and physiological changes. The common behavioral changes are avoidance, missing school, lying, and getting in trouble with the law, loss of interest and changes in overall attitude. The physiological changes include changes in eating habits, tremors, nausea, and changes in eye size and color. I can do a number of things to help a friend or a family member with substance abuse problems. First, I will establish the cause of substance abuse. Then I will show them the effects of substance abuse as well as ways they can overcome it. Outside resources may include healthcare centers and rehab.
