The mortality rate that is associate with alcohol in the united states is alarming, there is also a number of chronic diseases that are related to alcoholism. There is about 17,000 death that occurs annually in the USA from alcoholic liver disease, and an extra 27000 alcohol induced-deaths that don’t include accidents and homicides. Despite these shocking statistics, it seems that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), FDA, and the federal government’s current strategies are not enough to control this menace. The current strategies such as setting the drinking age, alcohol sales hour, and imposing heavy taxes on alcohol are not working. It will therefore be more essential to come up with other methods and strategies that curb alcoholism in America.

A police unit should be created in America to increase the surveillance of people abusing alcohol. This will help intervene in the situations where minors are abusing the drug. The law doesn’t define “excessive consumption of alcohol,” though this may vary from different individuals, it is time that an explicit definition is given to encourage responsibility and avoid chronic diseases associated with alcohol. Alcohol blow will not only be used to arrest motorist who has exceeded a particular percentage but also the rest of public. This might be an effective remedy, but it might not be applicable since most people would argue that it is interfering with their freedom as adults.
