"Healthcare Deliverables and Medical Care" is a wonderful example of a paper on the health system. Healthcare deliverables and medical care has tremendously changed in the last 100 years. In olden times, people were less informed about diseases and modern medicines and had relied more on a holistic approach. The holistic approach had emphasized maintaining a good lifestyle with nutritious food, outdoor activities, and traditional culture-based medical care. But due to less awareness about diseases like tuberculosis, heart diseases, etc. the care was also denied. I remember that my uncle had died because there were no antibiotics available when he was a young boy. In an interview Roberts (Robert & Fye, 2007) also recalls that his father, a prominent Cardiologist in the early 1900s, had just voiced his concern about the father and sisters of his wife having tuberculosis. It shows that people, in general, were not aware of diseases and therefore died due to nontreatment.

          In our grandparents’ time, medical care was handled differently. They often used nontraditional ways to treat diseases. Indeed, if my grandfather had broken his leg, family members along with peer support would have used wooden plank as support to fix the leg and confined the patient to bed rest. The extent of the injury could not be known and therefore confinement would have remained till the time the leg was healed. But in current times, an X-ray and sophisticated plaster or even surgery would be used to fix the broken bones.

          Medical insurance makes a huge difference to healthcare mainly because it facilitates good care without incurring huge medical expenses (Enthoven, 2003). If the person is injured on the job, he would mostly get requisite medical care. But if he is not insured and gets injured when he is not on job, accessibility to good medical care would be difficult due to the high cost of good healthcare deliverables. (words: 299)
