"Health Care and Business" is a wonderful example of a paper on the health system. The introduction of 3 D and printing has had its fair share of problems during its implementation. Using Kurt Lewin’s theory of management change, the management will understand the human behaviors in relation to changes and patterns of doing business. A new machine will scare dentists because of the phobia of a new machine. A new machine comes with training and the dentists fear for their job since they can be sacked in order to employ a qualified dentist who can use the machines. It will cause the dentists to offer restrictions to the implementation of a new machine (Boaz, M., 2003).

For the successful, implementation of the new 3D  milling and printing machines, the management of the clinic can use various strategies. These strategies should be evaluated carefully to avoid resistance among dentists and they should make dentists feel part of the project. The management should think of using Kurt Lewin’s theory because it will make the dentists comfortable with the project.

The management offers stages that give guidelines for the successful implementation of the new machine. The first machine is the unfreezing stage. In this stage, the management communicates the ideas in order to identify key players and support staff. Clear and precise communication also dissolves any static forces in order to ensure everyone is on board.

The second phrase is the moving stage where actual change takes place. In this phase, the management has dissolved any resistance force in order to implement the new machine. They should keep the line of communication open to offer any new information that may not be understood by the workers. The last phase is the refreezing stage where evaluation is made to ensure the change and effectiveness of 3D milling.

Aims and objectives

Clinics, like any other business, have the main objective of making profits. The pressure from insurance companies to the clinics to offer quality services has increased competition. Increased competition has been the main motivating factor for the clinics to offer quality service because insurance companies are their source of revenue.

The cost of implementing the 3 D milling and printing machine won’t be cheap because of the other indirect costs like training on personal. It will eliminate the cost of outsourcing services from the other modern lab.  It will be expensive to implement in the short term. But it will profit in the long run as it will improve the quality of services which will attract more clients.

The 3 D milling machines are efficient and speed up production, which, will enable the clinic to serve many patients in a day. This will increase revenue because many patients will utilize the machine in a short period of time. It is better than manual milling, which is inefficient. The effectiveness of the CAM/CAD will ensure the best utilization that will increase revenues. The implementation will also give them an edge against the competition and it will be a preferred clinic by insurance clients.

Conclusion

Investment in this machine is worth considering. The management should therefore maintain the machines regularly to avoid breakdown which will cause inefficiencies. It is important to ensure the machine against risks like thefts and fire to ensure continuity of the business.
