"Battling Hospital Acquired Infection" is a well-written example of a paper on infections.
After watching the video “Battling Hospital Acquired Infection”, I realized that hospitals place a greater focus on treatment, rather than prevention of infections. The number of patients injured or killed each year due to hospital-acquired infections is on the rise. Prevention of MRSA is part of the process of providing quality health care. Screening and treating is an indispensable process in every hospital, even during transfers and referrals. The creativity of the hospitals is also commendable.

The process improvement is beneficial for both health centers and patients. Screening, prevention, and treatment of MRSA are constituents of the provision of quality care. This essentially means that there will be fewer infections in the future. In consequence, hospitals must dedicate a large portion of their resources to the prevention of infections in their institutions, rather than in the treatment process. Although hospitals look at it as a cost and a waste of labor, screening patients is a simple task that prevents future problems.

I agree with Rosalie Arave that hospitals must work in an integrated manner owing to the increase in patient transfers. Evidently, hospitals need to constantly improve their methods and put into practice new procedures to stay on top of infection prevention and spread. Through proper process implementation and goal setting, hospitals can save on the costs they spend in the prevention of infections.

Trista Leggett mentions that the more involved in the prevention of MRSA, the more lives can be saved. This is true because of an integrated approach to the management of MRSA in which hospitals share information on beneficial processes that work and learn from each other. This dissuades the repetition of mistakes in other hospitals. The only way to improve healthcare quality and reduce hospital-acquired infections is through proper management of MRSA and sharing of information about successful control measures.
