Sexual health is one of the essential aspects of every human being. For instance, it relates to how an individual takes charge of the well-being of their sexual relationships and that of the surrounding intimate relationships. Sexual health is more associated with the emotional and physical well-being as it relates to sexuality. More especially, sexual health has been covered in many films in the world today. I choose to reflect on Jeffrey, the son of Veronica and David, in Haves and Have Nots, which has reflected sexual health differently. Many character have exposed that behavior, but Jeffrey is the most affected by his sexual relationship status. In essence, human development, relationships, personal skills, sexual behavior, sexual health, and society have been covered in Tyler Perry's Haves and Have Nots.

Human development

Jeffrey, in the film, has accepted his state despite the objection from his mother, Veronica. He does not feel bad over her situation when loving Wyatt, who loved each other in the film (Perry, 2013). The parents have opposed that relationship; however, he goes ahead and confirms the relationship without fear. Therefore, he has developed courage by interacting with both genders without any influence because of his gay state. He has loved himself and has high self-esteem. Jeffrey has portrayed a character that most people won’t have because of his high level of confidence. He has also respected the relationship of others throughout the series. For instance, he is proud of being gay and never fears his friends over the state. Veronica, his mother, has hooked him with a lady, but he rejects her.

Relationships

Relationships mainly rotate around family and friends who we relate to daily (Mckellar & Sillence, 2020). Jeffrey has related with many friends, and they know his state as gay and never fears anybody. Though, after he was embarrassed by the reaction from her mother, Veronica, he goes ahead and expresses his relationship with the police officer without fear, which is kind of disrespectful to his parents. The state gets worse when Veronica gets them making love in their house, which was very wrong despite the objection from his parents (Perry, 2013). Jeffrey's parents live in the past era where gay marriage was recognized as a taboo in the society. As such, they have objected to Jeffrey's relationship and ends up spoiling their respect. Jeffrey has understood the current era, and that is why he has accepted himself with his sexual relationship as gay.

Personal skills

Despite the sexual behaviors, one has to possess their relationship values. More especially, they should live according to their principles. Despite that Jeffrey's mother has highly objected to his sexual relationship, his father is still okay and understands him. Family relationships are essential in an individual's sexual health. As such, parents should be at the forefront of supporting their families in their values. The objection to Jeffrey's sexual relationship has limited his values, and he ends up being involved in the wrong values that do not build his respect for his parents. Jeffrey has communicated positively with his peers, family, and friends well. The good communication skills and values have built his courage and positivity in his sexual behaviors and relationships. Besides, the courage and confidence in an adult's sexual health and relationship build positive morals (Mckellar & Sillence, 2020). Therefore, despite the sexual relationships, there should be moral values for every decision made.

Sexual behavior

Jeffrey has enjoyed the relationship with the cop despite the negativity that existed from his mother as one of the parents. Jeffrey has accepted that gay marriage exists, and they are accepted in the current world. He has built a strong relationship with his gay friends, which makes him moral in his life. The relationship status is highly volatile if the individuals have not respected there state and are enjoying it. Jeff has enjoyed the relationship from the beginning despite that he receives many judgments from the public. The character has not enjoyed their sexual behaviors without acting on them. His mother's behavior mostly guided his reactions. Jeffrey could react that way to ensure that his parents could understand his sexual relationship. Hence, he did not enjoy his relationship well because of the parental objection in all his relationships.

Sexual health

Jeffrey was gay, and thus his sexual health aspect was not that intense. Though, as scholars suggest, there are always better reasons for an individual to seek help from professionals. An individual must be psychologically prepared to ensure at all means the reactions of the other partner do not hurt them. Jeffrey has not looked for any psychological advice to be prepared about the situation. Counseling helps prepare an individual for the current challenges that they can face in their day to day in their sexual relationship (Mckellar & Sillence, 2020). Could he have gone to counseling, he could have been told of what he will expect in the relationship, he could not have been surprised with cop's behavior? It is always good to be prepared more, especially when getting into sexual relationships with anyone. Therefore, Jeffrey has ignored all that because of the challenges he faced from his parents.

Society

The society is one of the enemies of sexual relationships’ success. However, it depends on how the individual is prepared for the situation. Jeffrey was always prepared for society's response, and he never cared about what they could say. What mattered for him was that he gets what he wanted. In the film, society has respected people with a different sexual relationship. For instance, Jeffrey is judged wrongly because of his relationship with the cop. Gay marriage was something that was seen as a taboo in the series. Though, the cop is not afraid despite that he had a family. The cop has been forced to be in a marriage when he is gay. He has gone ahead to have a relationship with Jeffrey, as he was not satisfied by his wife. Such characters have been judged wrongly by their families and friends. Thus, society's influence on sexual relationships cannot be ignored, as it has adversely affected many relationships.

In a nutshell, the fact that sexual health plays a vital role in an individual’s sexual relationships cannot be ignored. More especially, Tyler Perry has covered sexual health in the series Haves and Have Nots. Jeffrey is one of the characters that has been judged by both the family and the society for his relationship. Generally, Tyler Perry has exposed various ways in which society and family culture has spoiled many sexual relationships. Therefore, Jeffrey has been used to represent the many characters and how their sexual health gas been affected.
