Anxiety and How It Can Be Solved

Anxiety is a state of mental disorder that leads to panic, phobia, social anxiety, illness and stress. The state of anxiety encompasses the mind in most cases. This feeling is a state of mind brought about by potential circumstances in an environment (Junprasert et al., 2016). When human is pushed to extreme extents, a feeling of anxiety sets in without the individual realizing. The primary symptoms of an individual suffering from anxiety are increased heartbeat rate, restlessness, low concentration, and even lack of sleep. Besides, these symptoms can vary from one person to another. Cases have been cited as individuals suffering from anxiety, losing appetite, and developing headaches (Spielberger, 2010).

Studies have not pointed out the exact single cause of anxiety; nevertheless, there are some intertwined causes of anxiety in modern society. Brain chemistry, environmental matters and even genetic factors are the most commonly cited causes. Moreover, some causes are medically based. These include respiratory disorders, diabetes, high blood pressure and drug misuse and withdrawals (Bouton, et al. 2001). Anxiety leads to depression in some extreme cases. The disorder sometimes begins at an early age and develops as one grows.

Risk factors associated with an anxiety disorder.

Some factors may expose a healthy individual to develop a state of suffering from anxiety. Therefore, these risk factors should be avoided by healthy individuals as a mitigation measure to reduce the chances of suffering from anxiety. When a person suffers substantial trauma at childhood, the individual stands at a high risk of developing an anxiety disorder at both childhood and adulthood (Tuma, & Maser, 2019). Trauma exposes individuals to stress and duress, which leads to anxiety at last.

It's quite interesting to learn that people with an individual personality are also known to develop stress and anxiety, more than those who consider themselves not. Personality comes with demands and even responsibilities (Bandelow & Michaelis, 2015). When someone considers themselves to incline towards unique qualities and distinct characters, they also develop anxiety to try and cope up with these demanding situations. The other risk factor includes depression, which, in most cases, develops anxiety at higher rates. This can also lead to the development of more severe problems and complications that may degrade an individual’s health. The conditions of life can also make an individual develop anxiety. Social determinates of life include both economic and social lifestyle, which and individual is inclined to (Bouton et al, 2001).

Hard economic times, high rates of inflation or recess and low self-esteem are some of the social and economic determinants of health, that are directly attached to causes of anxiety in the current society (Junprasert,et al,. 2016). People living in developing countries experience high rates of unemployment. This leads to depression and drug abuse which in turn causes anxiety. Due to some peculiar characteristics, close friends and relatives may decide to isolate one of their members. Isolated members of the family may undergo serious anxiety due to stigma and isolation. Job demands and school life are viewed as major causes of anxiety (Bandelow, & Michaelis, 2015).

Balancing between work, social life and economy have dealt a challenge to many people, finally leading to depression and anxiety. School life and exams are cited by scholars to have contributed to anxiety. The natural response of the body towards demanding tasks like examinations may make students to develop a phobia that finally sets in anxiety (Spielberger, 2010). Lack of adequate preparations for examination leads to a feeling of failing even before attempting. A good number of students fail to adequately prepare for exams. The other factor in this category is the fear of the unknown, students do not know what the exams entail and this may cause great panic which finally leads to anxiety.

From the discussion above, it is clearly evident that anxiety has both risk factors that may double up as causes too. It is therefore important that full awareness is developed to act as a way forward of reducing the new development of cases of anxiety. Some risks can be avoided while others may not. In a natural set up, human beings undergo several challenges right from childhood to the fully grown adults (Tuma,., & Maser, 2019). Challenges like stress may prove difficult to control, but through awareness of the existence of such situations, it is clear that it can be reduced.

Preventive measures towards anxiety

As earlier mentioned anxiety is a daily problem to many. Some of the preventive measures suggested by scholars include keeping some regular seep pattern. Sleep has a natural way of treating anxiety. Sleeping makes the brain to relax, through this, the brain gets enough blood supply and reduces the effect caused by adrenaline, which was responsible for the high rate of heartbeat and increased blood flow. (Bandelow, & Michaelis, 2015).Through this series of events in the body, the natural resetting of the brain is achieved and the body then gets rid of the anxiety. Another effective preventive measure of anxiety is to have a balanced diet. The substances extracted from food can help reduce the risk of developing anxiety. A balanced diet helps in maintaining good health and effective function of the body organs. With an effectively balanced diet, it is possible to maintain a stable mental balance that helps in reducing the level of anxiety (Bouton, et al,. 2001). Exercise is a pivotal measure that can help prevent anxiety in human. Most exercises are structured to utilize both physical and mental strength. The two ingredients require some level of endurance which is overcome by training our brain to withstand pressure and pain. Field Exercises readily available since one can exercise while walking, running or playing some games. Individuals known to be sportsmen, rarely suffer from anxiety. Courtesy of their daily training in the field (Spielberger, 2010).

There are some substances that should be avoided, to prevent casing anxiety. Taking large amounts of caffeine and some of the over the counter drugs have also been greatly associated with causes of anxiety. Caffeine, tea, cola, and chocolate contain substances that may trigger development of anxiety. These substances should, therefore, be avoided as a preventive measure of anxiety. Similarly, drugs such as alcohol, cannabis and other hard substances should also be avoided to prevent the development of extreme anxiety cases(Bandelow, & Michaelis, 2015). As a preventive measure, it is also important to counter check with a qualified physician, if the drugs to be administered may cause or trigger levels of anxiety. This will avoid accidental cases that arise when an individual takes drugs like over the counter.

It is important to note that anxiety is an integral part of a normal human being. Thus, it also helps individuals to run away from dangers. What should be prevented is anxiety in the form of a disorder. Treatment of anxiety as a disorder involves several parts including medication and even guidance and counseling to the affected individuals (Bouton, et al,. 2001). Meditation and some form of yoga may also act as preventive mechanisms towards developing anxiety as a disorder. From the above discussions, anxiety is not harmful unless it becomes a disorder to an individual's case. Besides, it has positive effects on human beings like running away from danger. Nevertheless, it becomes a bother if it transforms into a disorder.
