Makeup Ingredients By Name Date Institution Abstract This paper takes a look at the two type of facial make ups that are commonly used all over the world. The paper will define the natural and the synthetic made make ups. It will generally talk about why consumers prefer natural ingredients than the artificial ones. Later it come up with a conclusion for a way forward on the completion of markets between the two products. Introduction One of the most important this when determine your skin care product is to make sure that you understand highly which your skin problem might be. You also need to know whether you want to have a smoother skin or a suppler one. The complexion also matter and one has to decide as to whether he or she is looking for a facial product that is meant to make him or her lighter or maintain the tone of his (Tourles, May 30, 2007). The age of the person will also matter, for example a younger woman and elder one may have different needs for makeup. An elder one might want a facial that will remove his or her wrinkles while a younger person may just need a facial that will ensure he or she maintains a smooth tone of the skin. For most people, the manufacturing of the facial cream is all that determines. This could be artificial or natural. It has been argued by many that most of the whitening creams are not usually 100% natural. These for some reason people find it to be dangerous for your skin. One can be pleased by the fact that the facial makes her look glowingly lovely. However most people who have used this product do say that the skin does not remain that way for a long time. After a year one will start to notice difference in the glow of the skin, needing him or her to apply more chemical creams in order to maintain the skin tone and smoothness. Natural Ingredients in facial skin care products According to the new ecologist website which is dedicate to informing readers on green energy and products, natural cosmetics are becoming popular day by day because of the fact that they do not contain any form of synthetic and chemically added ingredients. The website also adds that Natural products are highly used by more people today because the natural features of the product is able to cater for all types of skin, like dry, normal, sensitive and etc. (Ecologist, 2010) The natural chemicals are also very good for people who have dermatological issues like acne skin. The natural brand known as “SANTE” is found to be popular in Australia and is know to be very effective in maintaining the glow of a person’s skin for a lengthy time as compared to the synthetic skin care products. There are different ways in which one can differentiate a skin care product that is natural and one that is synthetic. What is used to identify if the product does contain mineral oil. However mineral oil does not moisturize or nourish one’s skin, it is an addition to the skin care product as it goes well with the skin for a little while. In a research conducted in some of the promotional brochures it was realized that most consumers would judge a skin care product by the way the make up is is absorbed in the skin (Gabriel, February 8, 2013). A product like jurlique is famous due to its effectiveness in nourishing, moistening and protecting the tone of the skin signs of aging.1 According to one of the brochure that was picked during the research, natural skin care products are also recognized from the way they have been designed. The rose Rose Moisture Plus range, comes out as an award winnng due to its natural ingredients and results suitable for the skincare product. There is a famous saying that agrees ‘we are what we eat’ the same applies to the type of skin care product we choose for our facial. According to Paula Bristow2 being able to provide our skin with natural ingredients goes a long way to prevent us from the dangers associated with synthetic ingredients. What we put on our skin is readily absorbed into the body and, unfortunately, the negative consequences are endless. Not nearly enough has been done to research the side-effects of toxic chemicals in cosmetics and I certainly see no sense in the use of such chemicals in skin and beauty care products. This is what makes natural cosmetics more preferable to the synthetic ones. (Surge, 2013) The human skin is believed to be the largest organ the body of any human being with the external world. According to the studies about human skin, it has been revealed that women who use makeup on a daily basis are absorbing more than two kilos of chemicals a year into their bodies. Some of the chemicals used in day-to-day cosmetic products have been shown to produce negative effects, including skin and eye irritations, dermatitis, hormonal disruptions, respiratory stress, dizziness, headaches and weakening of the immune system. Worse still, many have been shown to be carcinogenic or have been found in tumor samples. This is because chemicals that are found in synthetic products do absorb and penetrate straight to the human blood stream and later they are carried into other organ and areas of the human body. The remaining products are not as useful in the body as they accumulate as fatty tissues. It would be better for one to learn to avoid synthetic ingredients and especially when there is the presence of an allergy as it does not augur well with the synthetic chemicals. Natural alternative to skin care are spread everywhere in the world and even in our homes. They are cheap, and readily available unlike the synthetic ones (Cox, August 25, 2009). In addition, the natural cosmetic have been increasingly been preferred by consumers in the new markets of cosmetics. It is said a natural make up containing mineral is so gentle, it is also the only type of makeup recommended for use after cosmetic surgery, chemical peels or laser re-surfacing. This is because mineral makeup traditionally contains fewer chemicals than regular makeup and also because of certain ingredients, like zinc oxide, which have a very calming and soothing effect on the skin. Mineral make up has so far over the years been rated among one of the best choice of health and is well recommended by dermatologists all over the world. The reason for this is that it does not block the pores which are very important in ensuring that the skin has enough space to breathe. In addition, if you or any person you know is suffering from a skin condition, it will be advisable to use natural ingredients more that the synthetic ones. One need to totally avoid unnecessary additives such as fragrance, preservatives and coloring, as individuals with sensitive skin may more easily develop allergies to these additives. Skin problems like pimples and the chronic acne prone skin are usually over reactive with synthetic cosmetics unlike the natural ones which are always less occlusive and not easy to block the pores of the skin. Mineral make up also feels light on the skin and allows the skin to breathe and stays on longer without repeat application. If you have acne-prone skin, oily moisturizers and makeup can block pores and worsen your acne. Mineral makeup is an alternative for acne and sensitive skin sufferers, who should avoid minerals with bismuth ox chloride and mica as they can irritate the acne-prone skin (Wellbeing, 2011). The mica found in mineral products also reflects light away from those fine lines and wrinkles. Due to the titanium and zinc oxide content, they also offer in-built sun protection which is based on the amount of makeup you put on your skin. Mica is generally a very safe mineral ingredient but is best not to be used on sensitive and highly reactive skin types. Comparison of natural facial skincare products and synthetic facial skincare products There is always a challenge for a skin cream user when choosing between a synthetic and a natural ingredient to protect and maintain ones skin. However this will depend on the skin care benefits of the product. One other areas to look at, is to know you budget and the type of skin care which will be friendly to your pocket. If you are a low income person then you would probably go for a synthetic cosmetic for it has a long life on the shelf. Unfortunately this is opposite when it comes to the life of your skin. In addition due to the fact that synthetic ingredients are usually less expensive than their natural counterparts, cost is also a factor. On the other hand, natural ingredients appeal to consumers who are concerned about using products made from renewable resources and by companies that produce less pollution. (Tourles, May 30, 2007) For this reason, there should be a call by the law of manufacturers in order to protect consumers from any kind of harm. Again, some of the fragrance oils are synthetic, and so is the preservative used in some of natural cosmetics. As a customer it is always good to have a range of scents to choose from, but ultimately one can choose a makeup of his or her choice and have a product that has a natural essential oil, fragrance oil, or unscented. Also, our products that contain AHA are also available without it. Conclusion In conclusion, there is not a really practical regulation of the word "natural" for skin care products; its meaning is subject to interpretation. Therefore any person who is involved in production of a skin care product can use either. Most manufacturers would use the word in order to allow for consumers to have a choice (Cox, August 25, 2009). At times this has been seen as being a marketing gimmick that most people use to sell their products, knowing well that one produce is preferred over the other. According the a study conducted by the researcher, what need to be regulated in this sense is to ensure that all products list their ingredients on the label, so the best way to check whether a product is truly natural is to check the label. Ingredients are listed in descending order of predominance. This will go a long way to providing consumers with choice and also enable them to accept liability in case of a fault the manufacturing of the product. Reference List Cox, L., August 25, 2009.
