'Excess Mortality in a Cohort of Cocaine Users' is a perfect example of a paper on addiction.
The journal article concerns the study of the mortality risk factors of cocaine, the study being conducted on drug users admitted in hospitals for drugs in Spain (De la Fuente, 2013, pg 219 - 226). This study is therefore beneficial since the problem of cocaine abuse is common in many countries among the young adults. The research uses efficient data since it uses both primary and secondary sources of data. The primary data is evidenced by the data that is obtained from the patients admitted in the hospitals in Spain, the study population being the young adults admitted out of drug abuse. The secondary data use is evidenced by the use of recorded data that summarizes the effects of cocaine abuse in various countries. The study assesses the effects of cocaine at different levels of abuse and accounting for the numbers that are affected. The study also makes a conclusion of the findings obtained from the study. The findings from the study indicate that cocaine increases the mortality rate among drug users. The study is effective since it is able to attain a conclusion regarding the effects of cocaine abuse. The numerical representation of the results can be used by the present and future scholars as evidence of the conclusion of the study. The study also reveals that the most affected group by use of cocaine is young adults. The conclusion of the study reveals that proper treatment for the users of cocaine reduces the mortality rate. It also insists on the importance of avoiding the use of cocaine among young adults. This, therefore, reveals the effectiveness of the research study.

Journal 2

The journal presents exploratory research whose purpose was to evaluate the harm reduction of substance use through various therapeutic tasks and clinical processes (Tatarsky & Kellogg, 2010, 123- 135). The study is important for use in the field since it gives an oversight of how substance use addicts should be helped. From the study, it can be identified that substance use has life-threatening consequences such as suicidal thoughts and trauma. Moreover, harm reduction psychotherapy recognizes the fact that the social-cultural context affects an individual’s substance use behavior.  The study was able to address the problem of substance use treatment by presenting numerous alternatives to the problem.

Journal 3

The study was initiated to evaluate the social-cognitive aspect of substance users in the recovery process (Savvidou, Lazuras & Tsorbatzoudis, 2012, pg 48-58).  The study used qualitative as well as quantitative research. The data collection method used was the administering of questionnaires. The data was collected from a sample population that consisted of two hundred and one persons. The data analysis techniques used included hierarchical regression and moderation analysis. The study revealed that personal attitude and behavioral control were principal determinants of response to substance use treatment among the users. In this regard, the study is important to the field in that it provides important crucial information that can aid in the smooth treatment of substance users. The researchers concluded that regular exercise was an effective mechanism to fight substance abuse among young people.
