Increasing the Health Security of the Nation - Essay Example

We are writing to you because we believe that you, through your Centers for Disease Control and Protection organization (CDC), share our belief that women's health is essential in nation-building and its growth. We also believe that the importance of gender is a social determinant of health.

From 1948 to date, the World Health Organization has been playing an integral part in addressing women's health issues. Our purpose is to promote and catalyze global and country actions to resolve the human resources for health crisis and to promote the concept of "health for all" regardless of their gender, caste, color, and creed.

Our reason for approaching you is that we are seeking partnership to address the problematic health policy regarding women's health. Your organization works relentlessly to protect people from health and safety threats. There is a well-known perception that the United States has the best health care in the world. Despite this, our life expectancy is shorter, and our disease rates are higher than most of the industrialized world. In addition, we see patterns of women, which are actually worrying. Today, women in the U.S. are at the bottom in terms of life expectancy. Hyattsville & Maryland (2014) said that around 13.7% of women of the U.S. 18 years or older are in poor health (p. 137).  Women in the U.S. countries are dying at a higher rate than a generation ago.

The decline in the life expectancy of women in the U.S. is a huge public health concern, and yet it is hard to get research funding to study the causes. We are not dealing sufficiently with the social factors that have a higher impact on our population. The leading causes of women's death are heart diseases, cancer, chronic lower transpiratory disease, smoking, and obesity. Around 36.4% of U.S. women 20 years and older are obese (Burwell, Frieden & Rothwell, 2014, p. 230).  Some of the other socio-cultural factors that are abiding women to better health services include physical, sexual or emotional violence and an exclusive focus on a women's reproductive role. When it comes to women's health, we are facing a problem that perils our half the population because the health threats to women also widen to their children, posing threats to our next generation.

At CDC, you increase the health security of our nation by conducting critical science and provide health information that prevents our nation against expensive and dangerous health threats. We believe this arrangement will benefit your organization by widening your reach and strengthening our cause of provision of information and taking steps to improvise women's health.
