The CMS core measures as of 2014 are different from before and they are classified differently into adults and children. The recommended core measures for the adults are below.  There is control of the high blood pressure, imaging for lower back pain, and assessment for complex chronic conditions, preventive care, and screening for clinical depression, body mass index, tobacco use as well as the use of high-risk medications for the elderly. For the children, there is immunization status, ADHD medication, nutritional counseling, dental decay, use of asthma medication, treatment of Upper Respiratory Infection as well as screening for clinical depression and chlamydia (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, 2014).

The core measures of Mayo Clinic which is a health care organization are similar to the previous CMS core measures. The previous CMS core measures include heart attack, heart failure, and surgical as well as pneumonia process. As for the Mayo Clinic, their core measures include Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) which is a heart attack, and then there is the core measure of heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care improvement (Mayo Clinic, 2011). The CMS core measures are much more detailed and cover a lot more health care issues and measures than those provided by Mayo Clinic. Some of the measures it covers and which are important in any health care setting include issues such as patients’ experiences that are got through communication. There is also a provision of timely and effective care in the different core measures as well as handling of issues of readmission, complications, and even death. The most important one that is not left behind is that about payment in terms of the value of care provided (Medicare, 2014).

This is because this hospital is an acute care hospital meaning it provides all the health care services in addition to teaching students. Its standards for doctors and other health care workers are high as it takes only the best in the profession making it accredited among the best hospitals offering different services as well as being given certification for operation of its various specialized medical centers within the state (Medicare, 2014).

A health care facility with set standards, certification, and continuing education are really beneficial to the community as it has the total package promoting quality health. The facility is able to provide all the services necessary to treat all kinds of patients as well as provide preventive care and education. An educational wing is however not necessarily a quality product as the students when let to try out during their practical sessions may end up harming the patient instead of providing quality care. The accreditation and certification process also demands a lot of finances and time from the health care facility.
