"Reducing the Infection of HIV and Aids Among the Adolescent Women" is a great example of a paper on the virus.
HIV/Aids has become prevalent and pandemic globally. Many people especially the communities living in arid and semi-arid areas are profoundly affected by the disease as they have little or no access to information on how to protect themselves from the deadly virus. Women and young girls in these regions are the ones who are highly prone to the disease due to their biological factors. According to (Kittredge, 1991), there are few medical facilities in these areas and, therefore, this educational program is meant to create awareness and teach young girls on protective measures to protect young girls in their adolescent stages.

Aim: Designation and implementation of an HIV prevention and management education program for adolescent women on Medicaid in the pastoral community in arid and semi-arid areas.

Strategic Vision: To reduce the infection of HIV and Aids among adolescent women to zero levels.

 SWOT Analysis.

Strengths

· The young girls are ready and willing to learn and provide the labor needed in the HIV program.

· There is low interaction between the boys and girls hence minimal chances of engaging in sexual intercourse.

· The young girls have interests to know about the pandemic.

· The local community is willing to support the program including the donation of land to build healthcare where medical services on HIV can be offered.

· The communities have a lot of natural resources that are unexploited and if well used they can help to boost and sustain the immunity system of the already affected young girls.

Weaknesses

·Most of the young girls don’t have much knowledge about HIV and Aids.

· Illiteracy: this hinders them from reading written materials on HIV and Aids.

·Most of the young girls from these areas have never tested for HIV and, therefore do not know their status (Ehiri, 2009).

·The young girls do not know how they can use their vast natural resources to boost their natural immune system.

·Lack of information on HIV and Aids within the community of pastoralists.

Opportunities

· Young girls in the community are readily available for the training as they spend much of their time at home.

·Through assistance by NGO’s infected young girls can have access to ARV’s.

·Establishment of an education training program on HIV and Aids in these areas encourages young girls to take their issues on HIV and Aids on board.

·There is a vast land in the area where a learning center and a medical providing center can be constructed that the community is willing to give out for the program implementation.

·There are a lot of natural resources that young girls could use to boost their immune systems though they are unaware of them (Lyon, 2006).

·The local community and politicians are willing to support the program.

Threats

·Limited access to HIV and Aids services in most of these areas like HTC

·The pandemic disease has left many young girls orphans.

·There is limited information on HIV and Aids and the available one does not encourage the young girls to know their status but to instill fear in them (Dorn, 1992).

·If the vice is not curbed early enough the possibility of lack of future generation could become reality.

·Early marriages are leading to drop out of young girls out of school.

·Traditional methods of initiation used by these communities may increase the levels of HIV and Aids victims.

The following are the costs to be incurred during the program

The evaluation process of the proposed educational program

  • Comparing the level of illiteracy among the young girls in the community by the end of the program.
  • Carrying out logistics on the number of young girls who will have known their status on HIV and Aids since the beginning of the program
  • The response of the percentage of the young girls engaging in safe sex after the education program.
  • Evaluate the number of early marriages experienced after the training.

The overall relevance of the proposed project in a current healthcare environment

  • Creating awareness of the prevalence of HIV and Aids, its prevention and control measures.
  • Imparting knowledge to the young girls on health care in this community through formal education.
  • Empowering women in the management of their health issues.

Identification of potential investors for the proposed project

  • The government.
  • Non-Government Organizations, (NGO’s).
  • Private investors.

Conclusion

HIV and Aids education is vital in the fight against a pandemic disease. Making young people aware of the disease and its prevention measures are vital in maintaining a healthy nation hence the need for the educational program.
