  1. Balancing the profit motive by serving the needs of the patients

Health care organizations must always ensure that they strike a balance between provisions their basic services to a deserving patient who may not be in a position to meet their financial expectations yet they still need those services. They must decide on whether to invest their limited resources in profit-making ventures that will serve a limited number of patients or should they invest in activities that will offer basic care to many patients. Health care institutions must, therefore, ensure they offer good care based on ethically sound policies that incorporate the profit motives (Solzhenitsyn, 2009-2015).

  1. The management of pediatric as well as geriatric patients who are not in a position to make rational decisions.

Health care service providers must be in a position to carefully determine if their patients are in a position to understand their medical condition as well as the options involved in the treatment that they are likely to undergo. They need to find a proper means of handling such situations in which the patients rely on their next of keen to make decisions on their behalf in regard to their treatment.

  1. Avoidance of conflict of interest

The health care service providers are faced with an increased number of interests that tend to occur at the same time hence the need to strike a balance. Doctors and nurses must balance between the need to advocate for promotions and other incentives and their roles in offering their much-needed services to the deserving patients.

  1. Addressing the moral distress of the nurses on the provision of care with minimal benefits

The nurses who offer bedside care to patients are usually distressed morally as they have to be by their side despite minimal benefit or quality of life that they have. At times they are misunderstood by the patients that they are supposed to care of who in turn advocate for privacy from the nurses.

The effects of financial and human resource management controls

Proper management of financial as well as human resources is critical to efficient operations in the health care sector. Management controls in the financial department will ensure accountability and transparency in the allocation and usage of such resources. Controls in the finance department are ensured through timely financial reports and well-kept books of account (Morrison, & Monagle, 2009). Management controls in human resources will lower the rate of employee turnover and reduce instances of employees failing to meet their targets. This can be ensured through performance contracts and submission of weekly reports by all employees so as to show what each and every employee has undertaken.

How might financial and human-resource control issues affect your decision-making process?

Control issues in financial and human resources are likely to impact on the decision-making process since they require adequate planning and preparations in terms of equipment and resources to operate and maintain them. Financial controls require the inclusion of outside parties such as the auditors and the government bodies charged with ensuring transparency in the operations of organizations in relation to finances (Hall, 2000). It is, therefore, a matter of importance to include such in the decision-making process within the organization. Proper application of management controls will require the involvement of all stakeholders in the organization hence the need to consult all of them through forums and conferences before making final decisions.
