"Facility Planning - Spreading Improvement across Health Care Organization" is a wonderful example of a paper on the health system. St. Vincent medical center was established in the year 1856 by St. Vincent de Paul’s Daughters of Charity as the very first hospital in Los Angeles. The hospital has a glorious and strong future. It has been around for a long time, and a lot of monumental changes have been witnessed both in the medical profession and in the hospital. During the existence of this hospital, smallpox has become something of the past, and open-heart surgery progress to beating heart surgery. The hospital has without interruption offered care to people who are sick since it was established. With the Daughters of Charity, they foster the Catholic Church’s healing ministry and values that are based on the health-care organization. According to the hospital’s mission statement, the hospital is particularly focused on serving the poor and the sick (Nolan, et al. 2007). It provides comprehensive and perfect healthcare that is attentive and compassionate to the whole individual i.e. mind, body, and spirit.

The hospital is devoted to nurturing families and children that are healthy, promoting the development of self-sufficiency, and providing community and individual well being. Through the idea of collaborations that are value-based, its goal is to better the health of its community. The center continually works to offer the highest and safest quality care to its patients, families, and the community in a way that is consistent with its values: Respect, Compassion, Advocacy, Simplicity, and Inventiveness to Infinity. Its plans for care and processes are developed on practices that are evidence-based, and it holds itself to high standards. 

MHAP is a center that belongs to St. Vincent Medical Center’s important community outreach and beneficial programs that aim at disease prevention, health education, early detection and facts, and referral services for ethnic communities at high risk that includes Latino, Korean, Chinese, Filipino and other populations that are vulnerable in Los Angeles. This is program shows St. Vincent Medical Center’s commitment and long tradition of providing care for adults who are underserved and with a low income, families, and children in the communities that surround it. This outreach is the medical center’s cornerstone mission of serving the sick and the poor according to its tradition. The community organizers and experts of health education at MHAP go to the community directly so as to provide the services that are much needed. From special events to health fairs, MHAP goes to the places that the individuals that require the services most. Patients are offered these services at no cost and these include follow – up care, test results, and counseling (Williams, et al. 2005).   

The services that the community basically benefits from MHAP center basically are Community Health Fairs, Cancer Education and Free Mammogram, Pap smear and Flu Shots for individuals that are uninsured and those with low income, Basic Education on Nutrition, Diabetes and Heart Disease, and Patients Referrals for Diagnostic and Treatment Services.

 The hospital also has other programs that it involves itself in and these are: Dynamic Strength Training Program, Cancer Patient Support Group, and Look Good Feel Better Program.
