"Pre-Hospital Medical Services of Critical Care Cases in Saudi Arabia" is a rare example of a paper on the health system.
Proposed Title of Study

The title of this proposed study is The Management and Leadership of Pre-Hospital Medical Services of Critical Care Cases in Saudi Arabia.

Summary of the Proposed Study

This proposed study will take an in-depth look at the current management and leadership styles existent within pre-hospital medical services of critical care cases in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  As such critical cases must be planned for and properly executed, the management of the hospital environment prior to the arrival of such patients is critical.  As such, this study will examine the procedure and methodologies that research, and consultation with professionals currently working in the field, belief maximize the effectiveness of such services.

Purpose of the Proposed Study

The purpose of this proposed study is to determine the various management and leadership styles inherent in pre-hospital medical services related to critical care cases in Saudi Arabia.  The study will examine both effective and ineffective management and leadership styles in order to propose a new paradigm for acute care hospitals to consider in relation to how they conduct pre-hospital medical services to their critical care cases throughout the Kingdom.

Relevant Background Literature

Research Questions

The development of research questions is a necessary step in an effort to guide the project in the most prudent direction.  In considering the specific parameters of this study, it is important to determine the various ways that management and leadership styles in acute care hospital settings can impact the levels of prehospital emergency medical services offered to patients, in addition to better understanding what can be done to become more productive and efficient moving forward.  Upon considering this, the questions that will form the basis and foundation for this particular research study can reasonably be assumed to be answered via a comprehensive literature review to be conducted, in addition to developing an in-depth interview to allow qualified participants to provide their own unique insight and perspective, in a narrative fashion, that can lead to reliable and valid conclusions to the topic under investigation. The combined experiences of these individuals will enable the determination to be made as to whether or not existing management and leadership styles should change in favor of a more comprehensive attitude toward implementing the implementation of proper procedures related to pre-hospital emergency services in cases where patients require critical care (Leedy & Ormrod, 2010).  In developing a sound methodology that can be employed to answer the subsequent research questions, a process of inquiry and exploration served as a framework that assisted the researcher in the search for answers.  This should lead to more effective strategies moving forward that can help acute care hospitals in Saudi Arabia better manage and lead prehospital services that are necessary to the safe and efficient execution of critical care cases, all in a quest to be more extrinsically and intrinsically motivated towards excellence in performance (Eriksson & Kovalainen, 2008). Primary Research Question What management and leadership styles are shown to contribute most to the effective implementation of prehospital emergency services for critical care cases in Saudi Hospitals?

Definition of Key Terms used in the Proposal

Critical Care - Critical care is best defined as a critical illness or injury that acutely impairs one or more vital organ systems such that there is a high probability of imminent or life-threatening deterioration in the patient’s condition.

Pre Hospital Emergency Services - This is best defined as any initial medical care given to an ill or injured patient by a paramedic or other person before the patient reaches the emergency department.

Research Methodology

The concept of utilizing In-depth interviews is to provide the researcher with the opportunity to probe qualified participants with questions that elicit insight and perspectives unique to the phenomenon being studied.  As opposed to a quantitative survey that only allows participants to quantify their response in one of several categories, interviews allow individuals to elaborate on the thought process that goes behind their response in general. In addition, the process affords the researcher the latitude necessary for asking follow-up questions to gain even more information based upon the data that was just collected from the interviewee.  It also enables the researcher to ask any necessary follow-up questions that arise from responses that need clarification, in addition to enabling them to clarify the intent of any question that might be unclear to the person being questioned.  There are three mains types of interviews utilized in qualitative research today, and each has its own strengths and weaknesses associated with them.  The three techniques most commonly utilized are face-to-face, telephonic, or online (Daily & Phillips, 2010).

Significance of the Research

This research is critical in order to determine the objectives and aims that should be developed with an acute care setting in order to properly deal with critical patients that might entire the halls of a hospital at any given moment in time.

Ethical Considerations

It is important to inform the participants of any research study what the benefits and risks to taking part may be.  It is an ethical obligation on the part of the researcher to guard the responses given by each participant, respect the integrity of what has been said, accurately report the findings, and maintain the confidentiality of each participant.  For this study, all-digital recordings and transcriptions of the interviews will be maintained by the researcher alone.  No names will be associated with any of the responses, nor will organizational names be used in the written report.  After a suitable time has passed, the notes and recordings will be destroyed.  These procedures are generally accepted ethical guidelines for research studies of this nature and are put into place to protect the participants.
