Periodontal and Herbal Usage (In India) Introduction The purpose of the research paper is to determine the usage of homeopathic medicines in India. Moreover, the research paper also attempts to unfold the effectiveness of the herbal medicines to dental patients in India. Further it also suggests some of the medicines that are highly effective to the patients. Discussion In the context of dental diseases or problems, it is observed that there are certain common dental issues in majority of the people. These dental issues include tooth decay and/or accompanied with bad breath, mouth sores and tooth sensitivity (Nagel, 2012). The severity of the dental problem gradually increases in patients, further worsening the dental health condition. Thus, it is of extreme importance from the perspective of the patient to undertake proper measures to prevent and cure his dental health. In this regard, it is advisable that the patient must undergo herbal treatment for the purpose of curing the tooth decay and other related problems. The application of homeopathic treatment would also lead to the assessment of patient’s dental health problems and undertake appropriate medications to address the same (Chopra & Chopra, 2012). In this regard, it is observed that India is one of such nations in the world that has evident of significant use of herbal medicines over the centuries. It is also evident that the nation has also extensively used herbal treatment for curing dental problems. Thus, it is important from the perspective of an US citizen to assess the effectiveness of herbal treatment upon dental issues like tooth decay and others (Chopra & Chopra, 2012). In India, it is significantly evident that the use of herbal treatment has lead to the reduction of several dental issues. One of such common issue related to teeth, which is observed worldwide including India and the US is the tooth decay. A large population of the world is observed to suffer from tooth decay in his/her life span. In this regard, the use herbal medicines are considered to be highly effective for dealing the problem of tooth decay. Besides, the curing of tooth decay, it is also recognized that herbal treatment is highly effective in reducing tooth sensitivity, mouth sores, bad breath, and many more (Goyal, Midha, Sharma & Martolia, 2011). In India that patients undertake herbal treatment during severe dental issues which has proven to be effective enough provide relief to the patients and recover to a great extent. There are also instances observed that some of the patients that have life threatening dental diseases like dental cancer, and others seeks the support from homeopathic medicines. However, the effectiveness of homeopathic medicines upon such life threatening dental diseases is still under uncertainty (Goyal, Midha, Sharma & Martolia, 2011). On the other hand, it is highly evident that herbal medicines are effective in curing some of the mild dental diseases like tooth decay, and others (Nagel, 2012). It is important to mention that the tooth decay is the primary cause of other dental problems such as mouth sores, bad breath, tooth sensitivity, and many more. Tooth decay is a disease that is caused by the bacterial effect on the tooth. Tooth decay is the damage of tooth structure comprising of denting, enamel, and cementum. The tissues of the parts are attacked by bacteria, which results in the decaying of tooth followed by other related issues (Bhateja, Arora & Mahna, 2013). There are two types of bacteria that lead to the tooth decay. These include Lactobacillus and Streptococcus Mutans. It is extremely important to cure tooth decay. This is because it may lead to the generation of tooth pain, infection, tooth loss, and in extreme case it also lead to death of the patients (Mahmoued, 2013). For the purpose of curing tooth decay, certain herbal medicines are highly effective. These include the Calc Phos 6x and Calc Fluor 12x. It is observed that the doctor prescribes Calc Fluor 12x for intense tooth decay while Calc Phos 6x is generally prescribed for moderate decay of tooth. Practitioners in general cases prescribe patients to intake these medicines thrice a day and the treatment duration may last for a month or two (Bhateja, Arora & Mahna, 2013). Although, the mentioned medicines are effective in curing tooth decay, but the reaction is very slow. The evidences of using these homeopathic medicines as prescribed by the doctors are many in India. These medicines are also consumed by the children. Moreover, one of the important benefits of using these medicines is the absence of side effects (Bhateja, Arora & Mahna, 2013). The prime reason for the effectiveness of the medicines Calc Phos 6x and Calc Fluor 12x regarding the curing of tooth decay is the composition of the medicines. The two medicines significantly compose of Calcium and Phosphorus, which are extremely important for the formation of bone and teeth (Bhateja, Arora & Mahna, 2013). It is also observed that there are a large number of homeopathic doctors in India that prescribes of these medicines to the children for appropriate formation of teeth. These medicines also act as a preventive measure for tooth decay to the children and adults. Moreover, it is also important to note that the medicine Calc Fluor 12x contain Fluorine along with Calcium and Phosphorus. This homeopathic medicine is also important in the development of enamel of a patient. Thus, it is of significant use for curing tooth decay (Bhateja et al., 2013). The other effects of tooth decay, which is the mouth soar, sensitivity of teeth, bad breath, and others are also considered as a significant issue. In this regard, the use of the aforementioned homeopathic medicines like Calc Phos 6x and Calc Fluor 12x also acts as an curing agent for side-effects of tooth decay (Bhateja, Arora & Mahna, 2013). Further, it is also worth mentioning that the curing of tooth decay subsequently leads to the gradual reduction of the observed side-effects (Akhtar, Khan, Sharmin & Sarwar, 2013). The use of homeopathic medicines in India is extremely popular. This is also with regard to the use of medicines for dental issues. In this regard, the villages in India make extreme use of homeopathic medicines. The prime reason for the use of homoeopathic medicine in India is the absence of side effects from its consumption to the patients (Goyal, Midha, Sharma & Martolia, 2011). Moreover, the medicines are highly effective in curing the dental diseases. These medicines are less expensive in nature and are easily available to the common people. However, it is also observed that unlike modern medicines, homeopathic medicines do not work rapidly which can be regarded as one of the major drawback behind the use of these medicines. In other words use of homeopathic medicines in severe tooth ache does not provide instant relief to the patients. The reaction of these medicines undertakes a reasonable amount of time for the cure of the diseases. Moreover, there is also uncertainty of its effectiveness to severe dental diseases. Nevertheless, the benefits of homeopathic medicines create its importance and demand in the Indian market. Further, for the promotion of homeopathic medicines for dental and other treatments, the government of India has introduced several homeopathic research centers and colleges across India. This has lead to the emergence of several homeopathic practitioners for creating a healthy nation (Goyal, Midha, Sharma & Martolia, 2011). Conclusion From the course of the research study it is evident that homeopathic medicines are of extreme use in India. This is primarily because of its effectiveness, lack of side effects to the patients’ health and the cheap price of the medicines. Further, from the research study it is also evident that the two medicines - Calc Phos 6x and Calc Fluor 12x are highly effective in addressing the problem of tooth decay and other related issues. Thus, it is advisable to the US government and people to promote homeopathic medicines alike India for the ensuring sound health of the people as well as to deal with the ever increasing cost of health.
