Preparedness is applicable to healthcare institutions in numerous ways. For instance, the staff should be prepared to deal with accidental cases especially when there are natural calamities. Therefore, the staff should have the right equipment ready in case there is a problem. Additionally, preparedness is applicable in another especially in the occurrence of an outbreak. For instance, the world has been sensitized on how they will deal with the issue of “Ebola” which has hit some West African countries. Therefore, People health practitioners are supposed to make immediate decisions on how to deal with the issue in case of an occurrence. It is also advisable that medical practitioners have the necessary knowledge on how to deal with the disease in order to prevent and eradicate the disease without infecting themselves (Healy People, 2014). Preventing such diseases from spreading to a large population needs extensive knowledge and appropriate equipment. Therefore, necessary isolation equipment as well as protective clothing is crucial and should be worn at all times. This shows that preparedness is applicable in health care institutes in order to deal with unorthodox issues as well as eradication and prevention of an epidemic in case of occurrence.

Intervention and a Rationale

It is crucial that preparedness is lacking in many healthcare institutions. However, the main intervention that is applicable in this case is extensive training. It is apparent that many health institutions lack proper preparation because of a lack of training. Therefore, there is a need to provide extensive training to the staff member as well as the members of the community in order to properly deal with any kind of emergencies. Preparedness, being a huge issue in the community as well as the whole world should be trained in different aspects (Ablah et al., 2008). It is apparent for people and health care providers to note that different problems should be solved and dealt with in dissimilar ways. It is, therefore, imperative that health care staff members should be trained on how to use different equipment in times of emergencies as well as have the knowledge that they can provide to the members of the community.
