"Refugees in Australia" is a great example of a paper on the health system. Refuges are delicate and unstable individuals who often escape crises in their own countries. As such, they are always mentally unstable since some are likely to suffer from traumatic and post-traumatic stress. Additionally, refuges often escape from violence a feature that implies that they are always likely to suffer multiple physical injuries. Australia has effective medical policies that permit refugees to obtain effective medical attention regardless of their nationality, visa status, and ability to pay for the services. Such friendly terms make Australia a preferred destination for most asylum seekers. However, the nurses among other health care providers require appropriate skills in order to treat and handle the refuges appropriately as the discussion below portrays.

The interaction among health practitioners and their patients influences the process of recovery. As such, the nurses must possess appropriate skills in order to handle the refugees appropriately thus enhancing their recovery. Understanding the psychological state of the patients is vital. As explained earlier, refugees often have traumatic experiences depending on the crises they flee. This implies that the refugees are likely to experience post-traumatic stress. This makes counseling fundamental in enhancing the recovery of the patients. Psychological therapies are essential in enabling nurses to understand their patients thus champion the treatment process. Understanding the patients and acknowledging their trauma is vital. The nurses must therefore handle the refugees tactfully with the view to orientating them to the new society (Correa-Velez, 2008).

A refuge situation exposes individuals to myriad sociological and psychological challenges. Besides fleeing life-threatening crises, the refugees must integrate into the new society. Refugees must settle into the new society a feature that presents numerous cultural conflicts. This compounds the post-traumatic stress thus complicating the treatment process. Nurses spend more time with the refugees, especially during the treatment process. This implies that they help the refugees suffer from post-traumatic stress and settle them into the new society. They must therefore possess effective interpersonal skills and an understanding of the effects of cultural conflicts since such affect the treatment process. Besides their professional training, nurses must have appropriate personalities and counseling skills. This helps in orientating their patients into the new society thus hastening their recovery process.

The mental stability of patients further relies on their physical wellbeing. Some refugees arriving in Australia often flee war zones, refuges therefore always likely to suffer varied physical injuries since they are always victims of war and life-threatening experiences. This compounds their demand for medical services thus eliciting an appropriate responses from the nurses among other service providers. First aid is a compulsory service that the nurse must offer. The Australian government has an accommodative health policy that permits refugees to receive any medical service they require. The nurses must therefore respond efficiently to every need that may arise as the refugees enter a camp in Australia. Furthermore, the injuries are always reminders of grotesque experiences. As such, the nurses must strive to treat the injuries while offering appropriate guidance and counseling in order for the refuges to recovery from their psychological states.
