"Diet and Nutritional Instructions" is a remarkable example of a paper on food and nutrition.
My client teaching assignment topic is diet/nutritional instructions. My client was suffering from obesity and weight-related problems. I saw the need of teaching him the topic of diet instructions he was a victim of poor eating habits. The excess weight was causing him to sweat profusely after even after the slightest physical tasks. His also experienced breathing problem which I attributed was as a result of his excess weight (Wolin, 10)

I carried out a close examination on my client so as to realize his need to be taught about the diet instructions. I carried out a test on his insulin levels and I found it being unhealthy. I also carried calculated his body mass index and I found it to be thirty-two. This is unhealthy at all costs. I also discovered that my client was leading a lifestyle that was accelerating his obesity rate. He was not having enough sleep. His lifestyle was sedentary which involved minimal physical activity. His diet composed mainly of carbohydrates and fats (Barbour, 23).

Another reason why I saw the need of selecting dietary instruction as a teaching topic for my client was the effects he experienced as a result of his obesity. He was snoring very loudly in his sleep. He was also starting to experience back and joint pains. His cholesterol levels in the blood were also high. All these signs showed me that it was essential for the client to undergo teaching on healthy eating habits (Haslam, 45)

One of the priority nursing diagnoses which I identified as a check on the client's eating habits. I discovered that the client did not know what entailed a balanced diet. This ignorance made him indulge in junk food resulting in obesity in the long run (Haslam, 67) Another nursing diagnosis that I found to be crucial was enlightening the client benefits of physical exercises discovered that he was accustomed to a sedentary life (Barbour, 75).

By diagnosing my client with obesity and checking his eating habits, I expected to reduce the number of fats and sugars in his blood. I also expected to bring down the levels of cholesterol in his blood. I hoped that these steps would go a long way in reducing his obesity. I also proposed intense physical exercises for my client. I expected this feat to burn the excess calories in his blood. I also aimed at strengthening his heart and lungs to reduce his breathing difficulties. I advocated this change of lifestyle to be gradual to enable him to cope in the long run (Wolin, 80).

In the initial stages of teaching my client, I used the persuasion approach. I aimed to, first of all, convince my client that the whole process is for his benefit. When he agreed to undergo the program of fighting his obesity, I provide him with books, magazines, and journals of the components of a balanced diet. I also showed him video clips of people who were able to overcome obesity as a result of following proper dietary instructions. I also provided my client with skipping ropes which he used as part of his physical activities. Throughout the program, I continued to encourage him that it was beneficial to adhere to proper nutritional instructions (Barbour, 34).

I relied on my client’s cooperation to measure if he achieved the learning outcomes. I observed his eating habits for six months to see whether adhered to the dietary instructions. I believe that the teaching project presentation achieved its objectives. I learned that with determination, human beings are capable of improving their lifestyles for the better (Wolin, 65).
