"Impact that Infertility Has on a Couple" is a great example of a paper on social and family issues. The rise in infertility levels in society today and the negative impact of this condition on the life of a couple has made it a vicious topic in contemporary society. Infertility may lead to loss of intimacy, poor social relations,s and psychological disorder within the affected couple. In society today, therapists have resorted to counseling methods to help members of the society who are faced with the challenge of living under a condition of infertility. In Florida, a number of facilities are available to take care of the social and psychological needs of infertile couples.

While a couple realizes that they are victims of infertility, they incur a lot of spending to have their condition treated. Most couples realize that they are infertile at a late stage and this makes it hard for them to appreciate. As a result, they spend a lot to try to cure the condition and this may result in a financial crisis. Socially, infertility affects the couple’s relationship with their parents as they feel that they cannot get a child as expected by their society. Also, it is hard for them to associate with other families that have had children. At this stage, the couple, especially the affected party may develop psychological stress as they feel isolated and a disappointment to their partner (News Medical, 2014). In worse situations, the couple’s intimacy may be lost as one partner opts to remarry in an effort to have a baby of their own.

It is the role of a nurse to provide psycho-support to the couple to help them cope with their condition. First, the nurse should assess the condition of their infertility, whether permanent or temporary. If the infertility is temporary, the nurse should guide the couple through the necessary treatment procedure and encourage them to be patient. If the condition is permanent, the nurse should counsel the couple on the way to remain comfortable in this condition. Since most victims develop an inferiority complex when they learn they are infertile, the nurse should encourage them and boost their confidence to regain the strength to accept their condition (Diamond, 1999). This will give the couple the courage to remain strong, avoid stress, and maintain intimacy within their marriage institutions.

In Florida, a number of infertility counseling services are available to help infertile couples with this complex condition. The Fertility counseling Center of South Florida is one of the largest health facilities that deal with issues concerning marriages. The center was opened with the idea of taking care of the financial, social, and psychological needs of the couples that are faced with the condition of infertility (Fertility Counselling Center of South Florida, 2013).  Jacksonville is another organization that deals with infertility issues and supports infertile couples to appreciate their condition and remains intimate while living in this condition (Psychology Today, 2013). In a nutshell, Florida is one of the cities that have found value in supporting couples with infertility conditions.

In conclusion, infertility is a complex issue that impacts negatively on the social, financial, and psychological well-being of society. The role of a nurse is to provide, psycho-support to couples faced with the challenge to ensure they appreciate the condition and adopt a normal life. In Florida, many health organizations have been formed to provide support to couples that face the challenge of infertility in their marriage.
