One of the resources is the SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) which deals with finding treatment for the addicts of drugs and substances and even those with mental health problems (which may have been brought about by substance abuse).

I carried out the research online on the Google search engine using various keywords one of which is “local resources” and “addiction treatments.” There were many relevant and irrelevant topics and issues that were yielded from the search and some of the relevant ones were the above two mentioned local resource organizations which on further research on their websites, the information provided qualified them to be used in this research paper.

What type of programs do they have?

NCADD has alcohol and drug programs targeting different audiences among them being the youth. This program other than providing a recovery center also has a social support units were family members and friends are able to be taught how to help their loved one overcome the addiction problem and also offered counseling on how they themselves can cope with such a problem in their vicinity and overcome it in the long run and lead a happy, long and healthy life. With their 24-hrs call center and referral services, patients are assured of being helped all the time regardless of the time.

SAMHSA on the other hand similarly to the NCADD deals with the treatment of drugs and substance abuse. Unlike NCADD however, it does not specifically handle alcohol but all types of drugs including opioids. This organization is widespread as well covering different locations all over the country including even the remote locations that other addiction treatment centers do not cover. For the seemingly severe cases, they refer them to their other locations that are better equipped to handle such cases.

Who do they serve?

As mentioned above, the two local resources handle all drugs and substance abuse patients of all ages. As for NCADD however, they specifically prefer handling alcohol addicts in their youths but this does not mean that it cannot or does not handle other addicts of other drugs and substances as well. SAMHSA additionally serves patients with mental health problems usually brought about by drugs and substance abuse.
