"Community Health Nursing Intervention" is a great example of a paper on social and family issues.
The Dallas community consists of just fewer than 1.2 million (as of 2011) with an annual growth rate of 2.1 percent. The population is roughly evenly split between genders. People over the age of 65 amass for 8.8% of the population, which is 1.7% higher compared to other states. Based on the statistics the three factors that relate to health issues are Health coverage, infant mortality rate, and Heart Disease rates. The Windshield survey reveals that Dallas has a high rate of casualties in each of the three categories in comparison to other states and regions. These issues highlight the health risks that affect the state of the Dallas community. (CDC, 2012)

Analysis of the Major Health Concerns

The survey reveals that according to various states, Texas had a 23.1 percentile of individuals without medical coverage, which was higher by an average of 3.9% compared to other states (but not all). Further details reveal that the Hispanic demographic had the highest number with 46.2%. This means that there are several individuals lacking a medical cover. Across the gender demographic, males were at 23.6%, while women were at 22.6%. Further assessment revealed that the nature of disposable income affected the level of medication for different individuals.

The infant mortality rate posed a great concern based on the data provided and analyzed. Texas has an infant mortality rate of six children per 1000 live births, with the total number of deaths reaching 2402 (CDC, 2012). This highlights a growing concern for the number of infant deaths in the state, and for Dallas, in relation to health care and nurturing measures.

Another key was the number of deaths in relation to heart disease. Though the number has dropped from 2003 (was at 237.8) to 178.6 in 2009, the data revealed that the number rose to 191.9 in 2011. The number is calculated according to 100,000 people as the population segment. Though the Texas demographic does not have the highest statistic across the states; however, the data reveals that the Black population contributes to the highest rate in terms of heart disease deaths in the state (249).

Solutions to Deal with the Health Concerns

The data reveals one significant flaw, which relates to the health care system. With Dallas having a population that is over 1 million, these health concerns can contribute to the reduction in the city’s population. Therefore, it is essential for the Health care system to be revised to provide substantial medical cover. Though there are certain aspects of death that imply that other factors contribute to the different statistics.

For example, heart disease can be caused by high cholesterol, which relates to consuming many fatty foods along with insufficient exercise. Therefore, there is a necessity for health initiates that promote healthy eating (CDC, 2012). This will serve to reduce the number of heart disease cases. Another contributor is the cheap fast food available, and it is essential to reduce the price of healthy food or force fast-food restaurants to promote healthy foods (revise their menus).

Creating a health care program that will suit the needs of the Dallas population will contribute to a major reduction in health concerns and deaths. Infant mortality is severely high for the city, and there should be better measures to address provisions to cater for infants, along with parental programs to increase proper maternal practices. Free or cheaper health care programs will aid the need for medical coverage. Though the rates of medical care will vary in terms of quality, it is vital to ensure that the cheapest medical cover will have a level of quality that can prevent or treat various ailments that are affecting the population.
