Extract of sample "Colon Cancer: Factors that Influence Disease"

"Colon Cancer: Factors that Influence Disease" is a worthy example of a paper on cancer.
Colon cancer is a highly prevalent cancer among British and there are many factors related to it. Among them, age is one factor that increases the risk of colon cancer among people. As per ( Washington University,2013) “The risk of colon cancer goes up with age. Most cases are diagnosed in people over the age of 50. The average age the disease is found is 73”.The risk of colon cancer usually increases in men by age than in women. Bowel cancer can also be seen among young people, but it is a rare case. Age is a reason for bowel cancer as it is directly linked to the immunity of a person. As a person grew older, the toxin accumulation in their body also increases which can give birth to colon cancer.

Possible Potential Alteration and Symptoms

IGFBP-rP1is a molecule that is responsible for colon cancer and colon cancer with age can alter into malignancy with varying potential. As per (Itzkowitz,1986, pg. 5976-84)“The present theory of colorectal cancer morphogenesis holds that cancer arises from a premalignant polyp rather than a denovo malignant transformation of normal-appearing mucosa”.Colon cancer is a disorder which shows different symptoms in various age. The most evident symptom of colon cancer is abdominal cramping and rectal bleeding. Diarrhea, constipation, inconsistent stool, and weight loss other visible symptoms.

Pathophysiology of alteration in Colon Cancer

The malignancy in colon cancer is originating from the inner wall of the intestine and there are benign tumors and malignant tumors. Unlike benign tumors, malignant tumors have a high potential to spread and infect more areas of the colon or body. As per ( Nugent, 2007)“So, if you have a malignant tumor in your colon, it's going to try to work its way through your colon. Normally cells function in a manner that If successful will see where else it can go. This is called metastasizing”. The normal cellular function is consistent. The cells are produced by dividing themselves and their biological constitution always remains in balance. However, the altered cellular function of a malignant tumor is that it spread and regenerate across time and divides uncontrollably. These altered cells are distorted in the formation and have errors in their molecular structure.

Conclusion

Colon cancer affects a person in a disastrous manner and the symptoms of this disease with relevance to age can be horrifying and complicated. This disease remains undetected for ages in people and is usually detected around 50 years of age in people. The potentially associated alteration of this disease is a matter which places colon cancer into a list of dangerous life-threatening disease. Colon cancer alters the normal cellular function of colon cells and tissue and diagnosis and medication at right time can save a patient from further complications.
