Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is a type of pneumonia acquired in hospital in patients that are receiving mechanical ventilation. It does not have causative agents but restricted to patients undergoing mechanical ventilation in a hospital. A positive culture after intubation is indicative of ventilator-associated pneumonia and is diagnosed as such. In order to appropriately categorize the causative agent or mechanism, it is usually recommended to obtain a culture prior to initiating mechanical ventilation as a reference. In order to improve the conditions of its patients, we need an implementation plan. The implementation plan should be up to the standards to ensure that the key factors in it cater to the objectives. There are key factors to consider in order for it to deliver. Below is a rationale for the design of one.

            Problem Description

The problem description should delve as much information on ventilated associated pneumonia and the dangers it poses as possible. This should serve as an explanation of the reason VAP is a menace in the medical field and hence have a strong basis to argue the case for the implementation of the proposed control plan. Management Overview

This should be the body of the plan. It is here that you should argue the case and present the proposed plan. It should describe the implementation, the tasks involved, and the schedule of the implementation (Swearingen, 10)

Methods of obtaining approval

The implementation plan should as well describe the approval needed for the plan to be implemented and the authorizing authorities that should see to it. For instance, if ventilation associated pneumonia is under the department of respiratory health in a facility, before actualizing the plan, one ought to seek their approval and have a rationale for doing that (Swearingen, 10)

Implementation Support

This should be the part of the plan that shows the needed support and the quarters it can be raised or is targeted to come from. Implementation support will include facilities, resources, material, personnel, and such. (Swearingen, 12)
