Extract of sample "Elements Included in Strategic Planning"

"Elements Included In Strategic Planning" is a great example of a paper on the health system. Strategic planning in healthcare institutions is becoming an essential requirement for all organizations providing health-related services to patients worldwide. Thus, effective elements are required to be emphasized while developing the planning process. It should further be taken into concern that the plan must address all the key issues for protecting the environment, lives, and property. The plan must be developed based on the community which signifies the whole population and their primary needs. It must also include the participation of all shareholders associated with the organization. The plan should involve a problem-solving process with systematic and logical justifications that will address uncertain threats and hazards caused by various diseases. Moreover, planning should be flexible enough to emphasize both catastrophic and traditional diseases. The plan developed by healthcare institutions should comply with the missions and the objectives of the organizations along with deriving desired results. Last but not the least, planning should enable the organizations to identify the valued tasks, allocate resources accordingly and establish accountability among its members (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2012).

For instance, Johns Hopkins Medicine encourages professionals to research key areas related to genetics, medicine, and technologies which enables the organization to provide standardized medical treatments to their patients. Furthermore, the research helps them to plan flexible strategies and prioritize implementing them accordingly (The Johns Hopkins University, 2012).

Resources Used By Leaders to Execute Strategic Planning

Healthcare institutions depend heavily on particular equipment and provisions and thus just-in-time inventory is commonly utilized because resources are at times inadequate. Therefore, leaders should ensure that reserved suppliers and alternate resources should be in place in order to meet the emergency requirements. Furthermore, it has been noted that the US healthcare industry does not employ enough staff and space for day-to-day operations. Therefore, leaders should ensure that the available staff is recruited in order to handle crisis situations effectively. Moreover, new technologies are being implemented on a regular basis for providing efficient services to patients. Thus, appropriate and constant training programs should be available for developing competent skills (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2009).

For instance, Mayo Clinic has introduced online services for its physicians to refer to clinical and learning notes associated with the new technologies implemented (Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research, 2012).

Approaches to Generate Funds

New technologies that are being introduced in the modern periods are costly enough which requires incurring a huge amount of funds. Therefore, healthcare organizations may organize donation campaigns along with promoting the services being rendered to the patients. Furthermore, the organizations can evaluate the tax benefits an individual will be receiving if certain amounts of financial contributions are made to their organizations. This strategy will help the organizations to receive increased revenue, thereby generating additional funds for implanting new technologies.

Factors to Be Considered

Organizing donation camps will facilitate the evaluation of the intentions of the healthcare institutes which are mostly towards developing the communities. Therefore, it can be assumed that governmental support will be available in terms of funds. Moreover, as the organizations are initiating measures for a noble cause, voluntary participation of the general public can be expected for conducting the campaigns efficiently.
