"Quality Management in Health Care" is a perfect example of a paper on the health system.

The system of healthcare is currently positioned as a complex and challenging social phenomenon. Different methodologies of risk management and quality management are applied for the internal improvement of American hospitals. With the example of the hospital in Florida, we will further summarize key points related to quality management and risk management. There is a need to improve the quality of services in hospitals to decrease potential external risks and advance the internal performance of healthcare institutions.

Goals and factors of quality risk management

There are four basic concepts of quality management: to improve employees’ management, to focus on the client’s concerns, to focus on teamwork, and improve the inner system of the hospital. There are many favorable conditions for quality management introduction, such as responsibility increase among patients and clinicians, improvement of the patient’s confidence, etc (Boedecker, 2009).

Such qualities of clinicians and nurses as leaders, their responsibility in the face of job performance are supported in the hospitals of America. In Florida hospital, starting from 2003 the clients have been requesting internal and external improvements of the clinic. To improve the services in the hospital, quality education and training of managers and many other corresponding changes are requested by the stakeholders.

The public can consider and analyze available data on quality improvement. There are three long-term goals for the hospital in Orlando, Florida: to improve healthcare treatment, to guarantee the patients high-quality services, and to support the patients in the process of treatment and after release. There are three short-term goals: to improve

knowledge of clinicians and nurses, to satisfy the needs of the patients and stakeholders and to improve public response to quality management strategies of the hospital.

There are five external factors influencing quality management improvement: cost spent on educational training for employees, stakeholder’s initiatives, which are often short-sighted, work-life balance of employees, which is often disharmonized because of additional training, patients’ current health conditions and a lack of personnel, who can visit quality training and treat their patients (The Official Website of Florida Hospital).

There are also five internal factors influencing quality management: employee’s inability to participate full time in training, public response to educational training and improvements in the hospital, data collection on nurses’ retention in the hospitals, personnel improvement data submission time and data quality collection and evaluation (Frank et al, 2008).

Conclusion

Various methodologies of risk management and quality management are used for the internal development of American hospitals (The Official Website of Florida Hospital). Therefore, quality management in Florida hospital is closely connected with risk management. When the stakeholders, clinicians, and the patients are focused on internal improvements, there is a need to provide them with favorable conditions on their way to performance management. Development of leadership qualities and knowledge improvement of the medical personnel witnesses the fact that to reduce external risk factors, there is a need to make internal improvements in the hospital (Guidance for Industry – Process Validation: General Principles and Practices, Nov 2008).
