Extract of sample "Affected Populations of Heart Disease"

"Affected Populations of Heart Disease" is an engrossing example of a paper on the cardiovascular system.
“Almost 18 million people—7 per cent of all Americans—have heart disease. More than half of the population with heart disease is under age 65” (Heart disease: A disabling yet preventable condition, 2000, p.1). Heart problems seem to be the biggest disease when we consider the number of people affected by it. Unhealthy food habits and crazy lifestyles are believed to be the major reasons for heart problems in most of the countries. Even though older people are most vulnerable to heart problems, it is not necessary that everything safe for the children and the youths. Reports from western countries and other countries show that a substantial number of children and youth were also victims of heart diseases.

"Although the mortality from coronary heart disease (CHD) has been steadily decreasing since the 1970s, it is still responsible for 15 per cent of all deaths and nearly half of all circulatory disease deaths in England” (Levene &Chir, 2010). In most of the countries, population with low socioeconomic factors is mostly affected by heart diseases. Among these population, smoking and drinking habits are more compared to the upper class in society. Lack of awareness about the problems associated with crazy lifestyles is another major contributing factor to the increased rate of heart problems among the population with low socioeconomic factors. In most of the countries, low income or less privileged people are more in numbers than the higher income, high calibre people and hence the heart problems are extremely common among the majority of the population. Hypertension is another major reason for heart problems. Tension is often undetectable among most of the people and hence the heart problems may also be realized only at a later stage.  Many forms of heart diseases are preventable with the help of controlling blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels.
