A pilot mathematics course has been framed which is student centered. Supplementary methods like mastery learning, computer aided learning, mentoring practice and innovative math lab have been adopted along with this pilot course. After necessary permission from the college administration, curriculum committee and the board of directors, important mathematics topics have been included in the intervention program and the course was conducted. Also other supportive activities like guest lectures, resource material collection, fortnight meeting of staff and students and ethical counseling had been planned as part of this intervention program.

The assessment was based on mastery learning and the feedback of the students was based on quantitative survey. Statistical analysis of the data has been used to find out recommendations to improve the students success rate in developmental mathematics. Based on the research data analysis, it has been recommended that computer based teaching and mastery assessment needs to be continued. The factors that need to be improved are the mentor’s involvement in the academic activities of the student and the fortnight meeting should be made more effective by following certain strategies in implementing the required changes that would increase the students success rate. .
