The paper "Online Versus Traditional Shopping of Smartphone Among the UK Students" is an excellent example of a research paper on marketing. The research study was about online shopping versus traditional shopping of smartphones among UK students. Data collection of the study involved the collection of both qualitative and quantitative data. In the case of the qualitative data, the researcher applied focus groups to collect relevant information on the topic of the study. To collect quantitative data, the researcher used a survey questionnaire to collect a variety of information from different respondents. The following is the analysis of the qualitative data collected during the study.

To begin with, the researcher used four focus groups comprising of UK students from different parts of the world. The first group consisted of seven members namely Aziz Khan who is from Pakistan, and a student of hotel management in East London University; Abdul who is from Somalia, and a student of computer science at London South Bank; and Riza Shiraze, an Iranian student of masters in Biology at Westminster University. There was also Mike Dobson, South African students of Logistics at Greenwich University; Juan, a Spanish student of Computer science at London Metropolitan University; Hamdan Alamry, a student of Law at Middlesex University from the United Emirates; and Omar Ahmed, an Egyptian student of Law at Bedfordshire University.

As per the result findings, the students all responded that they have ever at one point shopped online. Abdul, Aziz, and Omar responded that they first bought his iPhone online in 2009, in the UK. Riza responded that she first bought shoes from eBay in 2008, while in the UK. Juan and Riza made online purchases of a television and a watch respectively, while in the UK.

Regarding the students’ choice to buy online rather than from the traditional shops, they provided a wide variety of responses. Firstly, Hamdan opted for online shopping because there were many, new models on the internet as compared to the traditional shops. Omar, on the other hand, responded that he chose online shopping, as traditional shops’ information systems were not functional. Another participant, Juan found that online shopping is cheaper than traditional shopping, as he found a secondhand television online. Since he is a student that works part-time, Omar also opted for online shopping as it saved him a lot of time. According to Mike, online shopping was convenient, as he could not carry a television set from the shop to his place. Online shopping was appropriate as it offered excellent delivery services by taking the TV to his home. Similarly, Riza found online shopping better than traditional shopping because eBay offered her a cheap price, as well as peddling services. Abdul also maintained that online shopping was more convenient as compared to traditional shopping, as the former had a wide variety of products, which were unavailable in the stores. Moreover, Aziz found online shopping cheaper than traditional shopping, in fact by 10 pounds.
