Font size is readable. The information tabs are arranged properly. Also, the site contains very useful information that describes and provides visitors with more than enough knowledge of what United Way Cape Breton is all about.
Content: 7
The website contains a lot of relevant pictures. United Cape Way Breton is an autonomous organization that is managed by voluntary staffs; hence the pictures that the website uses represent the organization itself, which is a huge plus; although, it does not contain any video content. The information available generally describes or elaborates the mission and objectives of the organization, which tells the reader why the organization is in existence. Further, the website has lopsided features though. First, it lacks some entertaining features and exciting promotions. Second, although the website contains useful information, it is limited. The website only contains unspecified materials and related links are quite difficult to find.
Community: 9
As aforementioned, the information tabs of the website are orderly arranged which makes it easier to navigate. The words used are easy to understand, and it avoids confusion. Perhaps, great emphasis should be placed on the “ease of navigation” aspect since not all interested visitors are technically savvy. It is a professional organization so it is expected that retired professionals are likewise interested to join. But, one thing I noticed is that it does not have a chat support system or a simple chat box that enables urgent communication between the organization and the users. The website should have been more effective if such tools are installed as users get the exact information they need at the soonest possible time.

Customization: 8
Clearly, the website does not allow its users to personalize the site, unlike Facebook or Twitter, but this is reasonable in that this is a professional organization just like AARP or PETA, so it does not hold any bearing. The website has a “News and Events” feature that displays the different events the organization is conducting throughout the year, which adds more appeal to the website. Interactive tools for evaluating a product are not applicable since the website is a not-for-profit site.
Communication: 6
Obviously, there is no real-time two-way communication between user and site or vice versa because the website does not have a chat support system; although, users can communicate with the organization using its “Contact Us” feature that contains the address of the organization, and e-mail form, a phone number, and a fax number.
Connection: 3
Although the website contains links, they do not hold sufficient information. The “Links” tab is located on the lower right corner of the page and has a very small font size, which makes it difficult to find and read. Also, the available links do not automatically direct the user to the website; instead, the user needs to visit the website manually.
Commerce: 7
The website is not a business site, so its capability to enable literal commercial transactions may not apply to this site. But in the context of how it can be extended to different kinds of users, especially young and retired professionals, the website has the potential to attract more users. There is a great balance between the website features and the type of business or organization.
