The paper "How Does eBay Affect Traditional Consumer Market?" is a brilliant example of a dissertation on management. The aim of this dissertation is to examine the changes in the consumer markets from a comparative analysis of the Internet market, in the context of eBay Inc. and traditional markets.

The permeability of the Internet across the world offers a potential opportunity for marketers to sell their products and services. Millions of people are connected to the Internet, thus an approach by marketers to put their goods online poses each Internet user as a potential customer. These customers also pose as physical customers for goods in physical stores, hyper, and supermarkets.

There are so many facets that a new market frontier impacts in relation to the consumerism patterns of consumers. While a supply-chain approach dominates the conventional markets, an online platform like that provided by eBay allows virtual and real-time connection to all stakeholders. By initiating these differences, eBay affects the existence and market policies used in traditional markets in the following ways: point-of-sale characteristics, introduction, and deepening of e-commerce, price aggression strategies, supply and demand balance, and shopping abilities.

The introduction section of this paper seeks to introduce the research study by focusing on the following areas: background of the research, research problem, and objectives, justification of the study, and a theoretical framework towards understanding the basic tenets that guide the study.

1.0.Background of the Research
Every sector in the current global structure is denoted by technological advancements. Such is the business sector that defines all other inter-industrial activities. With technological advancements, comes information systems development, whereby the Internet is used as the main platform of activity. The interconnection of people on this virtual platform, irrespective of their demographic characteristics makes it easy for entrepreneurs to take advantage of the convenience created. Businesspersons can communicate and exchange ideas, do financial transactions and even sell their products and services. This does not underestimate other externalities that affect business operations across the Internet, but most important underscores the effect it has on the mainstream traditional markets that have existed since the formation of the early human civilizations.
