Leadership Analysis: Leadership styles and Qualities (Name) (University) Leadership Analysis Introduction Leadership is a responsibility that many describe as belonging to preferred ones. They hold outstanding aspect, qualities and characteristics (Northouse, 2012). These qualities define a person’s behavior and the consequential result is the appearance of leader who can handle a group of people, whether small or large, and manage them in order to carry out a specific task. Models of these qualities are honesty, open-mindedness, humbleness, self-belief and open-handedness among others. This paper seeks to discuss the role played by leadership qualities in promoting and forging an organizational success. Management experts however advocate that a profound leader should look properly evaluates long-term effect of decisions while monitoring effects of a short-term approach. This requires integrity especially in cases of crisis and disaster. (Northouse, 2012).The success of any organization is described by efforts, dedication and effective leadership. Leadership association is an essential feature of human environment because it supports strength and development of the society. A good leader possesses numerous values. Among them is the ability to accommodate ideas of group members. Another trait of a good leader is their power to inculcate hope among their members (Wasko, 2013). In addition, a good leader should be ready to unite their group. These are just but a few principles of proper leadership. In this case we analyze the governance of Walt Disney a company that is now growing speedily, and having a broad base in regard to its entertainment category. (Walts, 2013) A good leader should always aim at being as fair as possible. A leader should also be happy with their work and enjoy the organization. A positive attitude from a leader cheers up all the employees (Northouse, 2012). When a leader has an open mind and is an independent thinker the organization will be more successful because such a leader will be able to be honest and have a stand. Internal communication and organization awareness is also very crucial in the success of any organization. A leader should at all time be aware of what is happening in the organization. Most the situations at workplaces could have been avoided if the leader knew of the actual situation a bit earlier. A leader should also ensure a good flow of information throughout the organization. Having an open door policy will also help the leader to maintain a good rapport with the employees. Having a good rapport with the employees will ensure that the leader is easily accessible and can have an open dialog with the subordinates. This Retrospective paper discusses the qualities and styles and why they are essential within an organization. Leadership style The societies we live in present a variety of leadership styles and models. A conservative view about leadership suggests that leadership is an inborn ability (Northouse, et, al, 2012). Different leaders have their style of leadership that makes them stand out and be successful leaders. These successful leaders offer leadership for the future that uses a flow as a symbol in training learners about leadership in organizations, and speedily changing world. It gives a broad perspective on how change forms the basis for growth thus it provides the importance of leadership reflections within the organization (Northouse, 2012). Effective decision making Decision making is one of the concepts that portray an effective leader and his management skills when it comes to roles such as supervision. The most successful leaders use the participative, authoritarian and delegating leadership styles. The question then is how a manager comes down to what needs to be done. The leader’s ability to come up with timely decision is a key determinant of his success. Parker, (Lussier,et,al,2015) highlighted a process that ought to be followed during the process of decision making. In instances where an individual needs to make complex decisions with regard to dealing with a large number of people, the leader needs to consider varied opinions, and challenging dynamics, a facilitation process must be used to support the particular leadership role (Maxwel,2013). The authoritarian leadership style is the simplest and less complex leadership style. In this leadership style, the leader makes a decision without consultations with any team member. Some leaders follow any of the above-described leadership styles. A good leader uses any of the above leadership styles depending on the situation that arises. Traits of an effective leader The Walt Disney Board Chairman, Robert Iger is an unconventional leader. The style of management that he used was consultative, and was a perfectionist. He, therefore, demanded excellence from the staff and did not hesitate to criticize the underperforming staff (Wasko, 2015). Robert is a successful leader because of the combination of authoritarian, delegatory and participatory leadership style. He demonstrated a participatory leadership style when he improved diversity and gave workers the sense of purpose. In addition, he believed in adoption of technology that would be necessary for the business to develop and be more resourceful. Since the employees were given a chance by Robert Iger when he was the chief operating officer to participate in the design of new technologies, it gave them a sense of confidence where they loved their work. It is for this very reason that Walt Disney continued to be the best and outstanding entertainment industry with a large following. Robert Iger leadership style motivated the company workers who choose to devote their best to the company (Wasko, 2013).   The authoritarian leadership style was revealed in handling of the previous position as the chief executive officer as well as the chief operating that he once managed at the Walt Disney. In that case, he made an independent decision without relying on any of the company founders. The decisions that he made for Walt Disney later turned out to be the best decision that benefited the company (Dubrin,2015)). As a result of these Decisions, in 2005, Disney completed programs and movies in iPod platforms that focus on the environment, community and labor standards (Walt’s, 2013). Robert Iger is passionate at what he does. The leadership style that he offers motivates a team of employees by giving them a chance to make decisions on the company’s services. This was done during the organization meetings where the staff and executive meet and make effective decisions that will foster the organization growth. Robert Iger management style is autocratic and boisterous as he is a perfectionist who believes everything he does is accurate. The most admirable character is a down to earth demeanor that is liked by the workers (Walt’s, 2013). The manager demonstrated how to care not only about the business performance, but also concern for the people working for the organization by giving them time off work (Wasko, 2013). The manager also challenges the employees to think outside the box, and he also consults other board of directors. This will allow others a chance to offer their opinions while he leads the company. The direction or supervision of a particular unit or organization cannot be described as a walk in the park. Regardless of the objective to be achieved, a successful leader is an important factor (Walt’s, 2013). Leadership involves inspiring others through effective expression of traits or influential quality. In regard to Walt Disney the situational theory also known as contingency approach is based on assumptions that the conditions determine leader effectiveness with situations (Northouse, 2012). The type of leadership advocated by a leader is generally subjective by the core principles and hypothesis and thinking of that leader. Leaders can be successful if they develop their leadership style as desired in order to agree with dynamic variance in the surroundings where they lead. On a theoretical approach effective leadership enable in discovering an optimal balance of different variables which focus mainly on leadership behavior within the organization. The adopted style will provide a clear understanding of how leadership organization is crucial. The most successful leaders, therefore, use a combination of all the available leadership style and use them appropriately in direction. Arguably, successful leaders deal with any situation that arises in a decisive way. In active and intricate surroundings, leaders with dreams, honesty and dedication give enduring resources to any organization. However, efficient leaders also make decisions that make them influential and they remain at the top and are viewed in a big picture. These types of leaders bring changes by setting up objectives for the prospects and framing a proper approach (Chemers, 2014). An example of this type of leadership theory is the Contemporary leadership theory that provides a significant realistic suggestion about effective leadership. Contemporary theories have made leadership social process that involves planning of responsibilities in order to attain the organizations objectives. Contemporary leadership theory enhances shared responsibilities. A leader who is effective, self-confident and has an extensive experience may be successful in leading an organization whereas, an intellectual and inventive leader is most excellent in focusing of a discipline task. This increases an efficient workforce and growth to organizational running maintaining a competitive advantage. Organization achievement is based on a variety of features where an effective manager provides an open environment for the employees hence productivity is achieved. Conclusion Conclusively, Leadership is a characteristic that develops gradually among leaders and officers in public offices that hold top level positions of influence and rule. They develop excellent leadership qualities and this is especially evident in the way they solve issues when need arises. When it comes to effective leadership, there is no specific leadership style that is more appropriate than the other. The leadership style that is preferred by a leader will predetermine a number of aspects with regard to the people that he is in charge of leading (Maxwell,2013). Regardless of the leadership style that will be selected, the leader still has a duty to motivate individuals, provide direction and supervise the implementation of tasks. The approach style to leadership highlights the conduct of the leader. It evaluates how leaders operate in different environment; this leadership theory focuses on the leader ideologies and the situations in which the leadership arises.
