Leadership is said to have different phases which are very significant in the duty performance of various leaders. Regarding the traits of leaders, there are various theories that tend to argue that leaders are born, and due to the argument mentioned, the leaders who are born possess outstanding qualities that are not available to others. There were complications experienced in style to validate the argument in question and thus criticisms arose on the subject matter (Hodges, 2015). The failure of the trait characteristic led to the emergence of behavioral and style approaches regarding leadership.
The proponents of behavioral traits brought the argument that leaders just acquire characteristics that are already in existence and thus the continuous concentration in implementation generates the best leaders who are productive. It came to the conclusion that those leaders who tend to adopt the democratic styles bring tremendous success (Hogan, Curphy & Hogan, 1994). These studies have an element of identifying the best manner and style to lead. Comparative to trait theories, the behavioral characteristics also have assumed the fundamental role that is always played by situational factors in the determination of individual leader effectiveness.
So far this is the weakness that has been found to be present in all the leadership theories. According to another research conducted by (Hazy, 2006), he brings on the table the fact that leadership is not all about the traditional aspect of presidents and more so prime ministers speaking to large masses. True leaders are described as those who do not rely much on power but convert followers to work according to the motivations and values of their leaders. Leadership may lose meaning if in any case, it does not positively impact the folk.
This research will therefore do the extraordinary by elucidating how it should be practiced as many studies are not after providing procedures on how leadership should be practiced.
