I would personally express my point of view in the same style. 8.1.2 The reporters approach conveys a point of view in the reporting to convey the message. It is mainly used to indicate the experience of the people with regards to the march of ISIS (Fox News, 2015). 8.1.3 The persuasive presentation is for the purposes of selling a product or service with an example being selling an idea for an approval of a proposal. Informative presentation is mainly for training or education with an example being a lecture. 8.2.1 Quest means business on CNN has a lot of visual communication as compared to Boom Bust show on RT. 8.3.1 The topic is about the hacking of a high tech riffle (CNN Money, 2015). The speaker has adapted the presentation to be more informative through reporting the facts about hacking and the high tech riffle. Outside sources have also been used. 8.3.2 In one of the ABC news reporting about the dangers of driving while under the influence of marijuana, there is an element of bias. The words “different studies disagree on whether stoned drivers are actually causing more crashes” 8.3.3 The prior knowledge of the audience can affect a speech as it influences the levels of understanding. An audience can only remember about 10%. The audience tends to remember more what they have an idea of or what is relevant to them. 8.4.1 I learn best by starting with what I know before using the outside sources and this works for me. 8.5.1 Steve Harvey show is one of the programs that have elements of reciprocity. The audiences are able to communicate with the performers on stage through cheering and clapping. This is also applicable to the home viewers watching the program. 8.5.2 The stream is one of the honest programs on television that is broadcasted by Al-Jazera America. The program usually uses acts to discuss the current issues around the world. Only facts are used to create arguments anyone is usually required to provide facts with regards to their arguments. 8.5.3 Exploitation is usually depicted in the media through the use of advertisements. This includes misleading advertisements that provides false information about a product or service. 8.6.1 The most recent presentation was about a business proposal that in watched in one of the global summits dealing with entrepreneurs. It was about the use of technology to solve the daily problems. I learnt that a lot of information is required. 8.6.2 The cause of Homelessness by BelmontSpeechLab is one of the informative speeches effective. It has supporting materials in the form of visual aids (BelmontSpeechLab, 2008). Its delivery is also extemporaneous. I would however improve on the attention statement. 8.6.3 The product is a new innovative Smartphone How the product is unique. How it works. The benefits to the clients. Target market. Price. 9.1.1 There is a widely held belief that women are not good managers. However, this changed after I listened to testimonials of employees who have worked in companies with women managers. The testimony from the women in management was also persuasive and mind changer. 9.1.2 A salesman at one point was persuading me to purchase a watch. The persuasion did not succeed and did not buy the watch. This is because he was not convincing and lacked the principle Authority with regards to the product. 9.2.1 The situation involved the release of a movie which most people had eagerly waited for. The persuasive message was that that the tickets would run out if one does not purchase immediately. The message was persuasive as I had to purchase the tickets immediately. 9.2.2 The principle of consensus always work as people who would always want certain products since they have seen that it is good on someone else. I am susceptible to this kind of persuasion as I have several bought clothes and phones after seeing it with my friends. 9.2.3 People do not necessarily use reason to make decisions. In most cases, the decisions are usually made after being influenced by persuasion as well as the actions of other people. 9.3.1 I do not believe I would ever buy an alcoholic drink. However, I have seen a commercial for popular alcoholic drinks such as Heineken. The commercial uses more than one principle which includes reciprocity, consensus and commitment. I would however make changes in terms of liking. 9.3.2 Discontinuance is more difficult as compared to deterrence. This is because discontinuance involves persuading someone to stop doing what they have already been doing. An example being trying to persuade someone to stop smoking. 9.4.1 Currently, I believe I have attained level 5 in the hierarchy as due to the high levels of control and self actualization. However 2 years ago, I was at levels 4 as I was dealing with self esteem issues. In future intend to reach level 7. 9.4.2 Within the past few days, I had a conversation with friends about different current issues. This can be considered as a engaging in communication for gaining information. 9.4.3 Getting to know someone usually starts with the ordinary talks before engaging in more detailed talk about their lives. This follows the social penetration theory which highlights that the process involves moving from superficial talk to intimate talk revealing talk. 9.5.1 I experienced emotional resistance when some members of the community were using emotional pictures and images in their messages when making contributions. The use of such images was for creating an emotional response and makes the people contribute to their course. 9.5.2 Emotion is stronger since the appeal can wear out the capacity of the audience to receive messages. 9.5.3 The media advertisement of Guinness is one that utilizes the use of emotional response. This is through the use of inspiring stories and sympathetic character encountering complicated situations. The complicated situation in most cases is solved after Guinness is consumed. 9.6.1 Persuasive in most cases is not ethical as false, misrepresented, fabricated, distorted, misleading and irrelevant evidence is at times used to persuade the audience. 9.6.2 In a lottery commercial, the notion it could be you has been used and its shows many people winning the lottery. Since only winners are shown no one thinks about losing and hence a fallacy. 9.6.3 Effective arguments include the cigarette advertisements which warn that excessive smoking causes cancer. This has been proven scientifically. 9.6.4 The Proactiv skin care product had a convincing message about its skin care products and it featured Justin Bieber and it was quite convincing. 9.8.1 Great! Contact us at anytime for more information. 9.8.2 “ I have a team that specializes in building and preserving wealth for dentists by utilizing the recent Supreme Court Ruling” (Kaselnak, 2013). The strength is that it conveys the immediate idea. However it is not detailed and leaves question marks. 10.1.1 The non-verbal communication enhances the understanding of communication as it creates emphasis to the points being made. 10.1.2 The television personality that I admire is Larry King of RT. He is lively and also utilizes the concepts of non-verbal communication when stressing important points. 10.1.3 The results from a lie detector are not reliable as it only operates on the basis that lying is stressful which is recorded on a polygraph machine. It is therefore not admissible in most cases. 10.2.1 I value time highly and rarely waste any time. I spend most of the time studying followed by browsing the internet and spending time with family members. 10.2.2 Communication is dependent on time required for interaction. In the modern world decisions can be made easily as time for communication has been reduced. An example being bidding process and monitoring the stock market. 10.4.1 Switch the computer on. Go to saved documents and open the PowerPoint. Open the PowerPoint. Search for the feature Access and use the feature. 10.5.1 I watched the Quest Means Business program without a sound and could not understand most issues. However, I understood what they were analyzing based on figures presented. It was however difficult to know what their views were. 10.5.2 The main assumption is that emotions cannot be communicated through non verbal communication when reading. 11.1.1 “ Brewed to go with good times” is a slogan that meets the four criteria and can be used for a high quality coffee. 11.2.1 I was talking to a friend asking who I had not seen for long. He was nervous and emotional. This could have been improved by being more composed and maintaining the eye contact. 11.5.4 One of the interviews gone bad involved Wiggles interview with the band members on MSN (MSN, 2012). This is after they fail to completely respond in a credible way why one of their members was dismissed from the band. 11.6.1 The televised award was for MTV awards in 2012 which was effective while that of American Music Awards 2014 as not effective. 11.6.2 Achievements. Qualifications. Opinion. Vision. Ambitions. 11.7.1 An effective acceptance speech is that of lupita Nyong’o during the Academy Award (Oscars, 2014). She was able to move the audience and also created a lot of sincerity. 11.7.2 One of the most ineffective acceptance speeches was by Kanye West during the BET honours 2015 (Artist Live TV, 2015). It did not connect well with the audience and only a few people were appreciated. 11.9.1 The message was to a friend informing him that I will be visiting. The message was communicated via Facebook and it was effective since he received it immediately. 11.9.2 Environment. Message. Timing. Relevance. How the message is delivered. 12.1.1 An indirect approach for delivering a negative news message can be used when conveying a message that may have a negative impact on the receiver. An example being informing them that they are being laid off. 12.1.2 I regret to inform you that the sales figures have been decreasing and it is affecting the financial position of the company. As a result of this, yours hours and base pay will be reduced by 20%. We regret the inconvenience caused. 12.2.1 I was o9nlce working with a community organization and received negative feedback to correct the proposal I had made as it could not be approve. The action on the negative news was not clear and the news had not been fully accepted. 12.3.2 A lot of confusion and chaos is usually crested when people do not know what to do in a crisis situation. However, it was resolved through dialogue and proper consultations although it was not easy. 13.6.2 Proper communication and encouraging dialogue is important in terms of managing conflicts. This is because it gives an opportunity to everyone to express their views. 13.6.3 We were in a team and conflict arose due to the diverse nature of opinions. However, this gave rise to a new opportunity as more information from a diverse point of view was collected after the conflict was solved. 14.1.1 The Chinese culture is: Conservative. Superstitious. Naturalistic. Complex. Social. 14.3.1 Liberal. Democratic. Non-conservative. Simple. Naturalistic. 14.3.2 Clicking Flashing of the middle finger. Raising of one's voice while taking. Confederate flag. Six sided star. 14.4.1 The changes that will be made mainly involves around the issues of formality. This is because the levels of formalities are not high in the US or Australian letters. 14.4.2 In some of the American movies translated to Chinese, the changes may have been promoted by culture to avoid offending the audience. 14.5.1 My family made donations to those who are less fortunate after the difficulties brought by the global financial crisis. There is more than one interpretation to an ethical situation as some may argue against giving donations. 14.6.1 I would rely on theory Y as it plays an important role in terms of empowering the employees and hence motivating them to perform better at the workplace. 14.7.1 The expat networks are mainly provides information on how the expatriates can live in some of the countries and how they can deal with the possible challenges that have been identified. 14.7.2 The hardest part would be interacting with the local people due to their diverse cultures. The easiest part would be willingness to learn about the new culture. 15.1.1 The primary group involves my workmates and studymates while the secondary group is comprised of friends and family members. 15.1.2 There are times when I work alone as the input of the group is not required in the work being carried out. 15.2.1 An outsider with an expertise may help a group to move from storming stage to non-storming stage as the stage still requires basic issues that can e handled by outsiders. 15.2.2 The roles change over time as the members get to know each other better. This is considering that formalities change over time within a group. Some roles are however more positive than others like the leadership role. 15.2.3 I was once a full member of a group. However, I left the group after the leader started becoming biased and failing to consider the views of all the members. 15.3.1 In the past, I was in a group where the members were always involved in disagreements. However, the leaders promoted dialogue among the members and it contributed to the solution. The 7 step framework would have still been useful. 15.3.2 The cost benefit analysis would be beneficial as the study will involve continuing with my studies to a higher level which may be costly but beneficial. 15.5.1 I prefer working in a group environment as it makes the decision making process easier since each member comes up with a unique solution. 15.5.2 I would choose a leader who is visionary like the Apple founder who had great ideas. 15.5.3 The leaders I admire in the American president Barrack Obama who was elected democratically and he is a democratic leader.
