They are set to be achieved in a certain predetermined period and in a certain manner set. Goals are hence the benchmark for the success of a business or an organization. They indicate what the organization intends to achieve in a certain time. With this, the company is able to set and monitor resources. The allocation of resources in this case will be in line with the achieving of the goals that are developed by the business. The process of goal setting is very crucial for a company (Jared, 2007). A company that has put in place clear and definite goals is more prone to attain them as compared to those that do not have goals. Goal setting is achieved through the setting of plans. The plans in this case are hence processes that are set in line to able a business to achieve the goals that it has set. Goal setting therefore is a process that involves the development of plans. The plans are aimed at creating a direction to the individual in the attaining of set objectives. A company that sets goals and objectives and fails to plan on how to achieve them is prone to fail in its undertakings. The process of goal setting goes hand in hand with the aspect of business planning. Through this, goal setting is better attainable and effective through the coming up with effective business plans. As such, without adequate plans, the goals that are set cannot be achieved with as much efficiency and ease as compared to with the plans. Business plans are hence very crucial in the attainment of the set goals of a company (Kerzner, 2001). The main types of planning of a company falls into three different categories. The main category of plans are operations plans, strategic plans and tactical plans. Strategic plans are plans that are set in order to achieve the strategic goals of a company. This is in line with the strategic goals of the company. They are set with the mission and the goals of the company in mind. They are aimed at making the company to attain the goals that are set in time. They can hence be said as the goals that foster the attaining of the low level planning of the management. Strategic plans on their part require the complete involvement of the all departments of the company. With this, they are set based on the objectives that are laid down by the management (Mann and Weston, 2003). They help in the attaining of the highest levels of efficiencies in the processes of the business strategically. With this also, they foster the reduction in the delays and time wastages. The second type of plans that are set are tactical plans. Tactical plans have an essence in that they support the strategic plans that are set by a company. This is especially so through the use of and the translating of the strategic plans into specific and relevant plans of the company. They hence mainly deal with the low-level management of the company. This is through the ensuring of responsibility and complete functionality of the departments. Through the tactical plans, the strategic plans are broken down into smaller plans. This makes them more realistic and attainable. This as such makes them easy for the employees to attain them and to be motivated to work on them easily. This is based on the smaller and flexible nature that they have in them. They hence reduce the times that are spent in the attaining of the goals. They are narrower in scope as compared to the strategic management plans (Wilson, 2004). The despite this, edge the organization closer to the attainment of the set goals and objectives. Through them, the elimination of the wastages in time is the key trait that they possess. The third category of plans of a business is operational plans. The operational plans on their part are concerned on the specific procedures that take place and that revolve in the lowest levels of the organization. They involve such activities as the creation of budgets for the operations, the ordering and the stocking of inventories of a firm and the creation of advertisements for the business. Goal setting has different benefits to an organization. The first benefit is that it helps in the forward propelling of the business. This is due to the fact that the process of setting goals makes the individuals to work on and to accomplish. Through this, it enables the individuals to meet their inner desires (Wilson and Dobson, 2008). Through this, the company is able to achieve and live to its mission and vision. The individuals through it are able the individuals in an organization to have the drive to pursue the goals and their inner desires. The other benefit of setting goals is that they make the process of meeting the demands and the expectations of the business to become an easy undertaking. This is because the goals have a form of creating direction. This makes the individuals to be able to have a clearly defines target for their operations. Through this, the business is able to meet the expectations that are laid on it in an easy manner. The process of goal setting also has the benefit of reducing the time that is spent in the undertaking of business processes. Goal setting in this, has the benefit of breaking down the large and the intimidating aspirations of the business into smaller and achievable objectives this hence creates motivation to the business people to continue with their undertakings at even better efficiencies. They facilitate high levels of commitment from the individuals. The individuals because of this are able to attain higher levels of commitment and contentment in the undertaking of their duties and responsibilities (Johansen, 2008). This is because the goals in this case show clearly through the plans the time that is required to undertake a certain task. This also shows the business people the maximum amounts of time scheduled for programs and projects. As such, they help in the achieving of maximum efficiency for the organizations. This efficiency is crucial for the organizations. This is because it results to adequate and maximum utilization of the company resources. Goal setting to individuals is also crucial to them in that it helps in the facilitation of and the development of self-belief. This is where people are able to appreciate their strengths and work on their weaknesses. Through this, the ambitions of the business people and the individuals in an organization are fueled towards their attainment. It helps the people to be accountable for their decision and for the activities and the operations that they undertake. Accountability has t5he benefit of creating self-inspirations to the individuals. This hence make tem to have high degrees of self-esteem. They are then further enhanced in the business (Hughes, 2005). This translates to good returns and results for the business in the goal attainment process. People are able to believe that they can achieve things and undertake the tasks that they never thought that they would before. Goal setting hence has the benefit of creating belief in oneself. This is because the dreams and the aspirations of the individuals are vague without self-determination, which is crucial for the organization. The goals also hold people in an organization to be personally liable for failure. Through this, people are made to have the urge to straighten and better their ways. This is in order to see to it that they are able to achieve their set goals. In this, they create a pressure to the individuals to offer nothing less than their best in the undertaking of their daily processes. This is because they make the individuals to have a platform for their evaluation. This is an undertaking that is easy and that is achievable for the business (Mann and Weston, 2002). With evaluation, the people are able to monitor their progress. This is also crucial in that the business are able to recognize the main players in the achievement of their tasks with this also, the businesses are able to award them according to their performance. A good example is the questions that if an individual fails to write down a clear plan and fail to set specific goals, how can they then be able to look back and evaluate their path? This hence denotes the benefit of the plans in the process of analyzing the results that are made; whether positive or below par for the individuals. With this hence, goals make an individual accountable for failure. This is based on the results and the outcome of the analysis of the progress of an individual over time. Goals that are well planned also enable the individuals to live to their fullest. This is in terms of the achievements that are made over time. This is due to the fact that they help in gearing someone towards the attainment of a certain objective (McDonald, 2005). Through them hence, individuals are able to get and to attain the best in regards to their achievements in life and in their careers. This is more so because the goals are set at the highest levels possible. Through this, they make individuals to be able to strengthen themselves and achieve the highest levels possible. They are fostered in this process by the plans that are set by the individuals or by the business. With the plans in place, even the highest levels of goals are able to be broken down and made achievable for the individuals or the benefits. Conclusion In conclusion, goal setting is an important undertaking for a business. This is because it makes it possible for the business to meet its obligation in a set period. The organization is also able to gather and put in place adequate resources that are aimed at the attainment of the set goal. Planning is the most important aspect in goal setting. This is because the plans are what enable the business to be able to undertake its mandate in the achieving of the set goals. With adequate plans, the goals are made achievable for the business (Rouillard, 2009). The planning process also enables the goal attainment cycle to be easy and efficient for the business. It is hence important for businesses to put in place adequate planning in order to foster their attainment of the set goals and objectives.
