Leadership definition Leadership is defined as having four main dimensions which include self management. This is mainly self awareness, composure and integrity of an individual. Another key dimension in the leadership aspect is the relationship management. This entails setting agendas, persuasion skills and partnership of a person. The third dimension of leadership in Australia is the working in the business that is operational. This mainly involves job performance capacity, the efficiency and the performance of an individual in an organization. The last dimension is working on the business that is strategic. This mainly involves the culture, the strategy and the execution of those strategies. According to Australian society, leadership is defined as the process of influencing the beliefs, attitudes, and other people’s behaviors so as to bring the desired results. Tworney (2005, p.17) says that Leadership can also be defined as the process by which the leaders influence the unit’s direction towards achieving its objective or goals. Leadership can also be defined as the process by which leaders motivates others to excel in the field where they are working. It can also be defined as one’s person ability to get others to willingly do what they want. This is all towards achieving a desired result or goals of an organization. Every organization has its objectives or goals which it strives for. Leadership skills and roles in Australian organizations They are several factors that determine the leadership skills in the Australian organizations. These include the executive drive of an individual. The ambition, commerce and power of the leaders in the private sector are of great importance. The leadership also encompasses the personal skills, emotional resilience and emotional intelligence. All these work hand in hand to ensure effectiveness in achieving that which is important. They are two key aspects that are important towards effective leadership. These include confidence and trust of a leader towards the employers in the organization. The other important aspect is the effective communication by the leader so as to be able to win the organization’s trust and confidence. These are some factors which determine whether an individual is a leader and whether he can lead an organization towards overcoming the pressures of the outside competition. All those factors are important towards driving a leader to a successful and effective organization. The Australian organization ensures that those are put in place by their leaders so as to be able to compete with other outside competitors. This includes companies like Australian Essential Oil Company; this has been able to penetrate in the oil market due to its well organized leaders. According to Zimmerman (2005, p.20) they are various leadership roles which are very important towards effective in any organization. They include creating a vision that is inspiring and establish the values that are shared, giving directions while setting goals. A leader should lead by example; he should do whatever he preaches at the same time demonstrating confidence as well as trust. The leader should not seek for popularity but rather he should demonstrate the trust and the confidence in himself to his followers. It is the role of the leader to bring change in any organization. Another very important role of a leader according to Youth Development centre (2009) is empowering, inspiring and energizing people. The leader’s role is to inspire the people, being enthusiastic and at the same time energizing his people. The leader should try and create a work environment that is positive. The leader should empower the people and at the same time delegating authority to them so as to open to their ideas. He should appreciate other people’s ideas and have faith in their creativity. The leader should also communicate honestly and openly while giving guidelines. He should also set clear expectations to his people. The leader should also be willing at all times to discuss the problems at the organization and even how to solve them. He should listen with understanding while at the same time helping and supporting. Emerging leaders roles and external competition in Australian organization It has been established by Vadim (2009, p.13) that in Australian organization, the emerging leaders have plenty of the executive drive which is all about the competitiveness, leadership, winning, networking and confidence. They have keen interest towards their organization and business. These leaders have strong personalities and strong egos. They ever score highly when it comes to vision and innovation. These leaders are capable of the continuous improvement and very much interested in taking chances. They are responsible in their work. The emerging leaders in the Australian organizations are loyal people who want their organizations to succeed. They are ready to face all the challenges so as to enable their company to overcome the competition from other companies. This is one way that these leaders use to enable them penetrate in to the outside world markets. They are able to maintain a competitive advantage over the outside organizations. The global competition require the ability to continually and quickly bringing values to the market places in face of changing needs, environment and even technology. These increased complexity and competitive forces are demanding for changes in the organizations. The leaders in the Australian organizations are integrating their processes and functions towards achieving or making them able to penetrate the competition in the global markets. Christina (2008, p.15) acknowledges that the roles that the leaders have for their firms and organizations to succeed include that of providing information to the other management to be used in the strategic development and implementation. A leader who provides important information makes the company to be strong among its competitors. The other role of the leader is to be a narrow strategic partner in the organization; this involves joining in the strategy discussion and also formation of the strategy in areas which are defined narrowly like the financial areas. If these areas are looked upon very keenly, then the company is able to compete well in the market competitions. The last role by the leaders regarding success of the organization is having broad strategic partners in their trading and production methods. The interaction of all levels of management and also corresponding to the changes of the markets is crucial towards maintaining high competitive pressure. There are certain things that enable organizations in Australia to be able to be advantaged competitively. These are mainly practiced by the organizations’ leaders. They include using the potential capability and even competencies of the organizations. This enables the customers to get quicker and cheaper goods. Customer focus has also been in first place towards fighting for a chance in the competitive market. The Australian organization leaders have made this a priority. This is a very important aspect towards maintaining the organization at the peak of the competition. Strategizing dynamically is also another strategy used by the Australian organization leaders towards sustaining competitive advantage. The other main important issue that helps towards sustainable competitive advantage is innovation. Innovation mainly involves coming up with new ideas towards penetrating into new market. Leaders use two main important words in their mind to develop successfully towards getting their customers. These two words are differentiation and positioning. Differentiation is ability of separating oneself and the services or products from that of the competitors. This is a key towards building the competitive advantage and maintaining it. This strategy used by leaders makes their companies more advantageous than their competitors in the same market. Conclusion Good leadership qualities are very important towards a successful organization. For a leader to be able to lead his organization towards a competitive market, he needs to have qualities like being dynamic, team leader and even loyal to people. Leadership can be viewed and defined from various perspectives. Leadership can conclusively be defined as influencing the people towards achieving a certain goal or objective. Customer satisfaction should be put in the first place when it comes to securing a place in the competitive world. Current or emerging leaders in the Australian organizations are improving their leadership qualities so as to enhance and improve the survival of their organizations or firms as well as that of the entire country.
