TOPIC: COMPANY CHANGE ADAPTION Author’s [Name] University’s [Name] How employee adapt to change In the current business setting, the gap between relevance and obsolescence has a greater chance to grow wider every day (Posen 2013.). If the companies need to stay relevant, then they must adapt to change. Nonetheless, they must do so before change demands the call. Change is inevitable, to stay relevant means to connected-internally with employees, externally with customers and investors. At the same time, cordial relationship with the authority as well as in touch with emerging trends and market. Also, to ensure the innovation of change prevail in a company, organizations must-have skills, and will to adapt to a new change. Change can be uncomfortable but according to Forbes ‘if you don't like change, you're going to like irrelevance even less ‘therefore, change is imperative. About 80%of the significant changes occur in businesses such as mergers and quality improvement initiatives obsolete machines etc. faces resistance by employees. At the same time, it is the major reason the change initiatives as well as most business fail. Nevertheless, it is vital for any business to adapt to change (Stinson 2010.). How do a company's full-time employees adapt to change? Disruptions in the workplace is a global problem as the world gets populated and global. The world is becoming more complex as we evolve not simpler. Consequently, greater complexity and ambiguity, business are under intense pressure from consumers, competitors, the authority as well as general public. In other words, the more people we have in the world taking various actions, the more complexity, uncertainty, and disorder we get. Therefore, changes will be forever in the businesses and for the fulltime employees to adapt they have to: Let go of how good it used to be and start a new life Though not very easy to let it go employees are always advised to go customers, colleagues, and bosses. However, some employees continue to hang on the story in their heads about how it used to be. And that exactly what holds the employees away from the truth and adaptation. Many people fail to understand that for years they have spent working and joking earning promotions with a certain boss is past tense and all that is needed is to start being loyal to the new boss, colleague, customers. Letting go is by stopping thinking about and focusing ahead a technique that is rarely implemented by many despite the workability. Let go the promises from the boss, let go the procedures used to follow for work, the workmates let go because all does no longer exist. Furthermore, some of the best opportunities in life are presented to us when we are open to changes in life (Heugten , 2011.). Setting new goals and going after them When a workplace is affected much by change there seem to have no direction. Consequently, the employees get lost as they throw the old playbook and opens a new one. At the same time loosing focus as they lack purposes. As a result, they feel like anything they are doing is pointless (Choudhury 2013). The feeling can be solved by setting clear new goals that are attainable. That will be able to bring beautiful new minds as well as shift the direct energy that is much wasted in coping with the change. Setting goals helps the chaos goals helps employees to move forward through all chaos and all the changes that have happened in my workplace. Goals keep an individual feel focused on what to do as well as the action to take towards the goal. Also, having something specific to work towards can be a powerful way to re-energize a stagnant workplace (Choudhury 2013). The setting goal also makes the employees utilize properly the time available and stop thinking of the massive overhaul in the workplace. Also, goal setting aids in clarity of decision making to avoid ideas mix up. Moreover, a well-set goal gives more freedom of thoughts. Consequently, the employees can open up the creative energies on how to achieve the goals. Focus on controlling own actions Workplace change comes up with ups and downs that are beyond Controls for, example the boss changes mind in a major project one is working on. As a result, the workplace experiences a major crisis that affects every employee's morale .resulting to stress and anxiety raises from the situation because feelings are there and though no control over anything. Employees talk to bosses colleagues but to no avail. For employees the reality is the only thing to control is own action. It helps to mind to focus on the things that it can handle and leave the others to the responsible. Again, when there is a lot of talk about the company, disruption by competitors, by lawsuits and all are responsible for changing. The employs should not be worried about the huge things happening but should focus on the smallest thing in front and focus on the work they can control. Again, controlling own actions also enable efficiency and accuracy in the undertaking .Additionally, our actions control our new future (Hetzner, Heid and Gruber 2015). Maintaining a positive attitude Employees are always advised to sustain and keep a positive attitude even when there is a massive change in the workplace Employees has to be optimistic and enthusiastic regardless of what's new in the company department or the group you that the employee is working for. To maintain a positive mind means to agree that the new situation might not be the perfect one but the prior one wasn't either. As a result, the employee should always think how best to leverage skills, experiences, and interlinking so as to exploit the new role. Moreover, employees with negative altitude are noted by the managers as well as workmates, and they don't want to work with you(Hauff 2014) . Recognize that change is constant People have several jobs in a lifetime the same company is constantly involved in changes like change of the boss, procedures, as well as, production. Such needs make the resettlement of employees from group to group grounded on the need based. As a result, the change will happen whether liking or not, therefore, reality must be accepted as it happens whether employees are aware of it or not. Again, change is something that is going on all the time. Therefore, it should be welcomed. Just as the earth moves around the sun every day, employees should be aware that in the dynamic world we have workplace change is inevitable, and it is a natural occurrence of life (BRYSON 2013). Stay connected to previous co-workers To cope with the stressful moments of workplace change, the workers are recommended not to forget the workers who they had a chance of working together. It is because they are extremely beneficial down the life road. Most of them help in settling the quarrels in one's minds as well as giving pieces of advises as many may have passed through such times. More importantly, the old friend’s help in making employees feel like the environment is not very new. Despite the fact that workplace change on workplace is stressful and brings fear, stress and anxiety the good thing about it is that it prevent employees from getting bored in the current role and challenges as well as giving the employees a chance to work on the projects that they haven't worked before (Posen 2013.). At the same time, change promotes new ways of thinking. Changes compel employees to be creative and think new ways. At the same time, change helps change like cross-training, flexibility as well as specialized work teams that led to increasing productivity. More products equate to greater profit that can be enjoyed by management and staff. Also, the change in business helps the business to keep trends so as to satisfy the customer. At the same time, maintaining the reputations as the most innovative and responsive customers to the need of the client[Kos151]. Some changes in the workplace exist to improve workers health. For example, some healthcare business has stopped hiring smokers. In other changes where business have stopped selling sugary snacks and sodas in the pending machines so as to promote common health as well as mid-afternoon sugar midst among employees. The changes can be very disturbing for workers used to the status quo, but, in the end, health workplace is improved. Creative thinking benefits the workplace with the development of many innovations and ideas that can be utilized to keep the company fluid, exciting and fruitful (Hetzner, Heid and Gruber 2015). Importance of change in a Business Before listing how the employees can adapt, it's worth noting the importance of change in business. The following are the importance: Technological Advancements The significance of change cannot be underestimated at any given point. Consequently, change is vital to keep a company coping with evolving technological improvement in the society. Renovating the business in line with the technology helps the organization to be a mile apart from the competitor, thanks to increased production. A good example of the same is the introduction of CDs in place of LPs led to incredible profits. That showed the significance of technological changes. Additionally, the incorporating change in line with technology helps the development of new methodologies for carrying out tasks (Kossek 2015, ). Crisis Management Change becomes an inevitability when an organization finds itself in a crisis. It aids in rectifying some of the activities that are ineffective. Introducing changes to discard the activities assist the organization to survive the turbulent times. Moreover, changes initiated spare the firm extra expenditures of sustaining the ineffectual processes. Also, the understanding of change is vital to combat encounters such as fears, layoffs, disparate cultures and turnovers that are common among employees (Stinson 2010.). External factors Change helps the firm to survive with globalization that can be either a threats or opportunity (Manuti, et al. 2015.). Globalization has made it possible for companies to produce goods and services at the lower rate in some of the areas than the others. To cope with Globalization Company must ensure cultural and regional differences in different markets. With the understanding of that, the companies can develop strategies for these markets. Other factors that demand the need for change are decreased or an increase of market opportunities, Legislation and competition. Organizational Culture Numerous companies' induct change to improve their organizational culture. Changing the structural culture that could comprise of basic beliefs ethics, feelings, and internal and external relationships can develop its efficiency and productivity (Hetzner, Heid and Gruber 2015). Operative organizational culture also entices new consumers, increases customer fulfillment, reduces costs of processes and increases worker retention. The top administration of the firm is responsible for driving the culture change and needs to integrate the workers in implementing these changes. Business proprietors need to retain the commitment of their employees throughout the process. How do women react to change in an organization? Research conducted recently shows that low salaries, lack of opportunity for improvement and heavy workloads is more stressful to women than in men. After years of making advancement in workforce most, the women have the feeling that they don't receive many accolades like the men. At the same time, feeling less valued than men, lack more opportunity as well as adequate monetary compensation for their work. Women have reported a higher level of stress than men. Women are likely to be anxious, nervous and overwhelmed when confronted by workplace stress. They mostly express their stress in a psychological or social way as opposed to men who have heart attacks and strokes. Recently, the female employees, especially in a financial crisis, experience stressful work because of the nature of the constant sense of having their confidence undermined by men (Manuti, et al. 2015.). At the same time, women have taken more responsibilities at work as well as home. As a result, the things tripling the stress factor. Also, the women face a lot of different from men because when a company downsizes more often the men have socialized with the boss outside of work to keep their job. On the other hand, a woman has many responsibilities to children at home, husband, and family. There after the women have not been able to bond in the same way with colleagues. Additionally, women suffering from workplace change are more prone to stress-based disorders than men. It is apparent that women have the more sensitive adrenal system that controls stress management is sensitive than men. Therefore, very many women have a differentresponse than man. Consequently, the disorders such as acute stress disorder that include the inability to comprehend stimuli as well as disorientation (Heugten , 2011.). Women reaction on positive change According to research conducted on the response of women to a positive shift in the workplace, it shows that it leads to excellent achievement as well as excitement upon women in the workplaces. At the same time, positive change in women also brings about strong positive emotions, optimism, self-efficacy as well as perseverance. Women are well equipped to influence the coworkers more than men. Again, Positive change in workplace brings motivation in the workplace as well as enjoyment of the new ideas (Stinson 2010.). Women reaction on negative change On the other hand, negative change in the workplace has a great impact on the woman too. To start with women react with contempt, distress and disgust when they reflect on the change in the workplace. Also, women are more likely to have mental disorders such as Acute stress disorder that is mainly caused by persistent stress. Again considering the activities that women are involved in it is clear that women have many chores to accomplish at home. Consequently, there are high chances of getting workloads as well as job stress (BRYSON 2013). References Kos151: , (Kossek 2015, ), Read More
