Methodology Name: Tutor: Course: Date: CHAPTER THREE RESEARCH METHODOLOGY 3.0 Introduction The aim of the study is to establish how institutional theory affects on top management to implementing service excellence and innovation moderated by organizational slack. This study will be conducted on top managers of selected government departments in the UAE. 3.1 Research objectives 1. To examine the effect of institutional pressures on top management in enhancing public sector service innovation 2. To assess the institutional logics that affect on service excellence in government 3. To examine top management commitment to service quality and excellence 4. To establish top management commitment to service innovation 5. To examine how service quality and innovation are moderated by organizational slack 3.2 Research framework This study will use mixed research methods (quantitative and qualitative) to establish the relationship between the various variables. A survey instrument will be developed based on Liang et al. (2007) who related institutional pressures to implementation of ERP systems from the perspective of top management. The research model is developed from the works of these authors as shown in the figure 1 below. There is some factual evaluation of the services provided by the government of the UAE which is assessed by means of e-government i.e. ICT systems (Al-Khouri, 2012). 3.4 Sample size The study will administer 120 questionnaires randomly to the top managers of the 120 departments. In addition, the study will administer 200 questionnaires to e-government and m-government customers from UAE.
