Later in 2008, the hospital achieved a high point in the healthcare sector when it began functioning as a referral hospital and immediately started serving specialized clinical care in the areas of genetics, cardiac treatment, Neurosciences, and Organ Transplant. The number of specialized services has increased gradually over the years. Today, the hospital offers urology, nuclear medicine, emergency medicine, and hematology. Overall, the hospital offers tertiary specialty health care services. Predominantly, it serves the people of the Eastern parts of Saudi Arabia. Secondary care hospitals usually initiate a patient referrals.
